Today’s practice was super tiring. Coach Darby sure is pushing us for the winter league tournament. I love soccer and all but my arms felt like jelly after the 80 pushes Coach Darby made us do. Today I played against the Gators. (my friend Zoe’s team) I was really nervous about playing against her because in the normal soccer season me, Zoe, my best friend Jessi, and my 2 other friends, Frida, and Emma, all play on the same team, The Kicks. My whole team got there early, which made sense because it was an important game. Of course I smiled when I saw Frida and Emma holding signs that read, GO GRIFFINS and GO GATORS. I guess they had figured out how to cheer for me and Jessi, and Zoe. When the game started I was a nervous wreck but soon the flow of soccer was in my body, I felt amazing running across the field. The game went by in a blur but sadly…we lost! 2 to 1. It was a real bummer and pizza afterwards wasn’t very exciting until, me and Jessi started making positive remarks, and soon everyone was cheering and having fun. Except Jamie, who of course wasn’t there. Anyway, if win or next game will make it to the semi finals, if we win that, we’ll go to face off in the championship game. There is still hope! I have to go now, dinner is almost ready.

Today, after a long week of Coach Darby’s exhausting practices, we play the Grizzlies! I’m beyond excited for this game! Why? Because if (or when) we win we’ll be making it to the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! I was super hyped and could practically feel the adrenaline pumping in my body. I was even more pumped when Coach Darby started me as forward in the first quarter. We had the ball and were making a great run towards the opponents goal, when Jessi had a good chance to shoot, she shot the ball flying, the goalie made a spectacular save, but she wasn’t able to catch, it bounced off her gloves right to me, I kicked it and…GOAL! That’s pretty. Much how the rest of the game went. After the second half began the came back with speed, but we still ended up winning 3-1! We had actually made it to the CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Everyone was super excited as we quickly hugged and then clapped hands with the Grizzlies. As much as I was excited, I knew this ment playing my friend Zoe again, and Jessi knew too. She gave me a half smile, a gave her one back. I absolutely love soccer but playing against my friends isn’t the best feeling.

Today at lunch I was sitting with Jessi, Emma, and Frida. One of my friends Hailey, who had recently moved here, amoeba up to are tackle and congratulated us on our victory of beating the Grizzlies. When she left we all tuned to Frida, she is a totally amazing actor and landed a spot as an ACTOR IN A MOVIE! Yes, I know! It’’s crazy that I have a friend who’s in a movie! Anyway, she’s having a party at her house the night the movie come out and invited us all (of course because were her good friends ) so we offered to help her with decorations and stuff. It is super fun, but she takes it quite seriously, which I understand, today though she was really mad that Zoe (the fashionista of the group) was eating lunch with her winter soccer team, The Gators, instead of us. We tried to explain to her that it was because of the game this Saturday, but she wouldn’t budge, I guess because she’s an actor or something. She wasn't exactly mad at Zoe, but she basically was. I just hope that we can all still be friends after this game. I really, really, really, really, hope that we’re still friends.

Dear Diary,

I woke up to the feeling of butterflies doing the cha-cha in my stomach, I guess I really was nervous to play against Zoe. I got changed and headed down stairs. When I reached the kitchen my parents, and my younger sister Maisie were all wearing matching GO DEVIN shirts. I thanked them soooo many times, they had really made me happy. This was already a good start to my morning. My parents dove me to the game, where I met my teammates, who were already warming up on the field. The butterflies in my stomach grew from 10 to 100 in about 5 seconds. All a hundred of them were fluttering around my stomach, dancing like their life’s depended on it. I don’t want to lose this game but I don’t want Zoe to lose this game either. I had to put my worries aside and focus on the game we have to win. Once the game stared it felt like minutes, we’d score, then they’d score, we’d score then them, and so on. Until the final few minutes of the game, where I had the ball, and was dribbling down the field, I spotted Kristin in the middle of the field, I passed to her, she stepped it, and then kicked the back so hard it flew into the goal. It was 5-4 Griffins, we were winning, we were getting back in position when the ref blew his whistle! We had won! We had won the championship!!! We all cheered in excitement and then high fives the Gators, when I passed Zoe a gave her a big hug. So did Jessi. It felt good to win but bad to win against Zoe, but at least she smiled back, me and my friends were all ok. This diary entry has been forever and my hand is starting to hurt.
