EXAMPLE: CCE LESSON Building Critical Thinking, Information Skills and Communication in Cyber Wellness Through Structured Discussion

Lesson/Experience:
In a CCE lesson on doxing, students practiced critical thinking by evaluating online information and considering how these information skills could be applied when making safe online purchases.

They also engaged in role-play, taking on different characters’ perspectives. Through this, students demonstrated communication skills, empathy, and a deeper understanding of why people might behave in certain ways online.

FOCUS ON: L06 - Understand and Value arts role in society and culture.

(civic literacy) 1.4 :The student can explain, analyze, evaluate, and construct new understandings of issues that affect the culture, social and economic development, governance, future and identity of Singapore. The student can manage tensions among multiple perspectives.

EXAMPLE: Math Debate (building Information Skills, Inventive Thinking and Communication Skills through structured debate)

Experience:

Students were assigned a debate motion to work on, with one side on the preposition and one on the opposition. They were given time to do their research, to manage the wide array of information online and to evaluate which they should compile into their final debating points.

The students then work in their groups to synthesise the points and their eventual roles, before engaging the debate opponent and the audience in a diverse discussion of the debate motion.
