I was just about to follow my child to her Kindergarten, when we both heard this massive sound. My first thought was “Oh all right now I’m going to die.” I held my hands in front of my daughters face, and I turned around. People were screaming and shouting, I looked up and saw saw the two towers in flames and smoke, what a horrible feeling that was, I really can not not describe what went through my mind at that time. People inside of the two buildings began to jump down from the inside to the ground, it was like watching a horror movie. I immediately knew that this would turn out to be one of the darkest days in US history. My daughter was shocked, she did not know what to do, and I could not tell her. After a bit everyone cried, none of us would believe what we had just seemed and experienced. I decided it were best for my daughter and I if we just ran away, but then the first tower collapsed right in front of our eyes. I could not imagine what was going through everyone's minds, it must have been horrible to watch all this from the inside of the buildings, and what a sad and heartbreaking way to pass out. At that time my daughter was four years old, and she still remembers it like it was yesterday. Without a doubt the most surreal and terrible day in my life.

The 11 of September 2001 I went to work. I thought it would be a normal day at the office. As usual I went to Starbucks to get my daily dose of iced coffee. I went to my office and looked outside the window. I could see the sun behind the clouds and hear the birds whistle in the trees. My office was close to the twin towers and I could see them from my window. I distinctly remember, when the first building was hit by the airplane. It was like everything stopped and the only thing we did, was to watch the news. I couldn’t stop looking at my window and see the building be consumed by fire. I shook and couldn’t stop thinking about that it could be by office that was on fire. People were scared and some of them jumped down from the building, because that was their only way to survive. My day went from a normal day at the office to the most tragic day in America history. I can still hear the fire engines and crying people, when I think about what happened that day.

Few hours later I packed my bag and decided to go home. I have never seen New York city so empty as the day of 9/11. My head couldn’t stop thinking about what I just saw, it all seemed so surrealistic. The first thing I did when I came home was to turn on the television. All the Channels showed live photos of the building and Interviews with firemen. I went early to bed that day, even though it was difficult for me to fall asleep.

Communicative exercise: Lukas and Maja

We have discussed a bit and the only thing that came to our mind was Phones and social media. We know that many parents today think that we are the generation SoMe and that the way we communicate is different from their generation. We are not sure about if there’s a “before and after” but the way we live is differently different from many others. If we should think about a before it would might be before social media became such a big thing and probably, where we mostly used social media to communicate with friends. But now some influencers make money by posting pictures and do commercials on e.g. Instagram. We know that the social medias have got a huge impact in almost all of our generations everyday life, which are both positive and negative. The way our generation hang out together to our parents are a lot different, and we believe that is because of the invention of phones and social media. We also thought
about the crisis situation we are in at the moment, we do believe these days have reinvented the unity among our generation. After everything is over, and we can come back to a completely normal life again, we think a lot of new initiatives will see the light of day. Maybe we will see new guideline directives about how we are together and how we shall act together. One thing we know about is, that we will come out of the clever, smarter and wiser than ever before. It is our generation's job to comply these restrictions and make sure something similar does not happen again. This is only hypothetical, we do
not know what will happen from now on, but it was just a short little thought we had about the situation right now. But our main thought is still the impact of the social media, because some people live and die for their social medias, and we still keep on seeing young people being way too influenced by social media influencers.
