Bahrain National Day is celebrated on December 16th each year. On this special day, I join my fellow Bahrainis in celebrating our country's independence and the establishment of modern Bahrain.

It's a time for unity and togetherness as I spend the day with my family, friends, and loved ones, creating happy memories and strengthening our bonds. We enjoy colourful parades, fireworks, cultural performances, and exhibitions that showcase Bahrain's rich heritage. I wear traditional clothes, dance and savor our local food.

It's also a day to think about our achievements and feel proud of our nation. Overall, Bahrain National Day is a joyful occasion where I, along with the whole nation, celebrate our history, culture, and successes.

The 16th and 17th of December of each year coincide with the National Day of Bahrain. On these days, the Bahraini people celebrate two prominent events in the history of the Kingdom of Bahrain: The country’s independence day, and the royal enthronement of the former ruler Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa on the throne, and the National Day is an official holiday throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain with all its governmental and private sectors.

When I see thousands of trees are covered with glowing lights and all the street are decorated with Bahrain soft flags, this means the Kingdom of Bahrain celebrates its national holidays, which commemorate the establishment of the Kingdom of Bahrain during the era of its founder Ahmed Al-Fateh as an Arab Muslim state in 1783, the anniversary of its accession to the United Nations as a full member state, and the anniversary of King Hamad bin Isa’s accession to the reins of government.

 All Bahrain residents celebrate that event in everywhere even in the governmental, private sectors and schools. The National Day of the State of Bahrain includes many activities and celebrations, as Bahrainis carry out these activities in order to enhance their patriotic feelings towards their homeland, glorify Independence Day, and in gratitude to their leader and former king, the builder of modern Bahrain.

            Among the manifestations of the National Day celebration in the Kingdom of Bahrain is the participation of citizens from all over the country in that occasion. Also, their participation in this day is a tribute to the wise leaders of the country and to the King in particular, and their gratitude for that. They also wish, through their slogans and songs, continued prosperity and happiness, and warding off all evil from them. Bahrain also takes this day as an opportunity to introduce its youth to the history of their country and be proud of it. And through it, you renew their loyalty and pride in their homeland to ensure a prosperous future for them.

          On this day, the most prominent national events, competitions and music festivals are held, during which Bahrainis prepare traditional dishes such as "Biryani", "kebabs", "Luqaimat", and fireworks are launched in memorials, squares or places marked by national holidays in the country and special carnivals Various laser shows, air shows, folk shows, and announcement of new projects in the country during this occasion by the government. You will surely see the cheerful colors of the national flag in the streets, and the pride in the traditional dress of the citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Bahrain's Independence Day is a holiday in Bahrain commemorating the declaration of independence from the British Empire that took place on 15 August 1971, after the British announced the withdrawal of their forces east of Suez in the early sixties. Bahrain signed a treaty of friendship with the British that terminated previous agreements between the two sides.

National Day

Although August 15 is the actual date on which Bahrain gained independence from Britain, it does not celebrate this date. Instead, Bahrain annually celebrates National Day on December 16, which coincides with the coronation day of former ruler Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. As such, December 16 is a national holiday and is usually celebrated with a fireworks display.
