my interpretation of "love is friendship set on fire" is that love is much more complicated than friendship its on a different level and sometimes can be dangerous thus relating to "set on fire". When someone falls deeply in love they can sometimes be blinded by the love and can not see how their significant other is treating them, they do not see that their relationship is toxic. Then, all of this can lead up to someone getting hurt. Also, in friendships people do whatever they want with each other with no strings attached but, love is a more serious thing its supposed to be filled with trust from each side and you both are supposed to work as a team. That is how it goes back to love being much more advanced. On a more deeper note sadly what most people don't want to admit is that love can ruin friendships. Like in two of many ways when you date a friend and the relationship doesn't go as planned you end it and then the friends are lost forever. Also, being in love can affect your friends, how? well you will bail on your friends just to devote all your time to your significant other and then sadly everything comes to an end you guys breakup and you realize all your friends have left your side and you realize you are all alone.
