It is sometimes reinforced with titanium or steel.<br><br>The reason <strong>carbon fiber</strong> breaks off of <strong>Formula 1 cars</strong> on the slightest of contacts is because it's designed to shatter and splinter on impact. While <strong>carbon fiber</strong> is stronger than steel, the key material to its ridgitiy the resin/epoxy, is actually fragile like glass.</div>]]></description>

If a driver gets into an accident the breaking away go the wheels and suspension act to slow down the impact of the car with the wall.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The monocoque is strengthened with every alloy possible as it is the structure of the F1 racing car, it is stacked up to 60 layers in some places to prevent the car from falling apart.<br>The driver sits in the cockpit in the survival shell, a very important part of the monocoque, it is supported by deformable material to lessen the force of impact on the driver during accidents.<br>The survival shell consists of a roll-over shell which keeps the driver's head in place and protects the driver's head during a roll-over event (where the car is tilted upside-down)<br>No fuel, water and oil lines pass through the cockpit as it is used to contain other things or may cause danger to driver during accidents.<br>The cockpit has a master switch to turn off all electronics to prevent electrocution. A fire extinguisher that spreads foam automatically when there is fire or it can be activated manually by the driver or an outsider.<br>The driver is strapped in with 6 straps, two pelvic straps, two shoulder straps and two leg straps. The straps are intended to spread energy across the driver's body so there would be less injuries.<br>Although the safety features sound extremely capable they are quite useless, honestly, against real major accidents.</div>]]></description>

More friction in the tires allow more control, but it  needs to be fast and be able to " glide" across the track. Less friction in the engine improves the performance of the car, but friction is needed in order to run the engine itself. Different materials have different amounts of friction on other materials, which is why F1 designers have to be very accurate in choosing which type of material they use. If the friction is a little higher than what it should be, it could result in the loss of speed and even cost them the race.</div>]]></description>
