 The Polish people suffered a lot from the Soviet and Nazi rule and the Communist regime and we could see that everywhere. What we think is great is that you managed to overcome all difficulties and rebuild everything from scratch. What we have seen in Gdansk and all the other places we visited impresses us a lot: modern buildings adapted to the architectural tradition, an obviously good standard of living and interest and respect for tradition, well-done work and education.

Lots of feelings, sometimes opposite ones. The interesting but depressing abandoned Stocznia Gdansk; from the huge modern Shakespeare's theatre to the "life's but a walking shadow..."; from the pure fresh air and well-rebuilt bunker to the puzzling upsidedown house; from  Malbork Castle with its dense atmosphere of passing times to its controversial position (Kashubia and/or Poland?); from the golden sandy beaches bathed by the freezing North Sea to the too crowded streets and restaurants in Sopot (it's like being in our Riccione!); from the modern Olivia Star to Oliwa district identy completely changed. thank you Gdansk and dear Polish friends do widzeniađź‘‹]]> 2021-07-30 08:23:29 UTC https://padlet.com/pauloureiro/qkmdff1odbd21c7r/wish/1664845449
