Hello Madam Jasmine,

A. The reasons I’m taking this class is because I want to learn more on how to manage things that I usually think how it is manage but turns out its not how I think it is and I also want to improve my skills on communicate better with people.

As for my career goals, temporarily, I am to just focus on my studies to maintain a good GPA and finish my diploma. As for a long-term goal, I still haven’t thought about it that much since I’m more focused on the present than the future. However, I hope to work in the accounting field in the future. Fingers crossed.

I’m currently not working as I want to focus on my studies first. As for my favorite activities, I enjoy journaling since I find that it helps in many aspects including improving my writing skills. My career goals for a long term is to work within my program industry or company specifically as an accounting manager. At first, I am quite cautious with this course because just from reading the course subject I know that I have to speak a lot more since it is a Business Communication afterall. But then, I got to know about the lecturer-in-charge which is you! When you introduce yourself and how you carry yourself in front of us, I feel more comfortable.

As for my career goals, I am focusing on finishing my studies gratefully and hopefully graduate on time at the moment. Although I do like reading physical books, it is hard for me to take a book with me everywhere and it is much convenient if I just read it in my phone which I have with me all the time! By the way, I mostly enjoy reading mystery genre. I love the thrill of suspense and finding out things in the scenarios.

Last but not least, my communication skills at the moment is quite weak as I can say. I tend to stutters or ramble when I speak because I am afraid I will say something wrong. I think this is because I care too much on what others will say when they hear me talk especially in a different language. That is my weakness. As for my strength? I love hearing different opinions and listen to it with an open mind even though I might disagree for a little bit...

Currently, I am not working as I am focusing on my study. My favourite activities are reading history-related stuff and also in geography. As a history lover, I always love to discover about all the things that are affected by the results of past events and decisions that lead to what we have in the current situation, for example, how some confederation of tribes managed to unite and conquer half of the world or the invention of stocks during the era where the Dutch ruled the wave before the British.

When talking about my communication skills, I would humbly say that I am a very decent speaker and still have room for improvement. I can stutter in some situations where I did not get enough sleep or my body feels like I am going to the toilet. Fortunately, I have learnt to control all that by getting enough sleep and eating temperately to calm my body and mind. As for my strengths, I am pretty good at focusing on tasks that are given, being assertive about my opinion, being realistic about every situation, and having a rational thought for every situation that happens. For my weaknesses, I sometimes find my mind wandering around when the present does not stimulate my brain enough, being sceptical if that is considered bad because I need evidence, and I always have a contrast view about certain situations, and it sometimes causes problems between other people. But for now, my sceptic mind has not created any big situation yet, and I hope it will not, as I believe people should respect each other's opinions.

Other than that, I don't have any job at this moment because currently I'm studying in UiTM Kota Kinabalu Sabah campus. Moreover, I like to play badminton or reading a book during my leisure time.

I hope madam are doing well. My name is Jerwin and I from BA119 in semester 2 right now. Today, I would like to tell madam about my background with this class.

Before I take this class, I only thought that communication is only about talking with other people. Its all change since madam told us about communication. I realized that communication is about how we pass the information to other people and it made me more interest with this class. I hope with this class, I can improve my communication skills to help me in a future.

Talking about my future, I hope I can work in finance. In way to achieve it, I study in banking to help me learn more about finance. So, I'm targeting to continue study degree in finance and I use want to be a vice chancellor as my short-term goals in odder to achieve it. For now, I just targeting to be a dean so that can help to study hard. Actually, its not about vice chancellor but its about how we gain the target. We need target higher to avoid fail achieve the real target.

Before I study in UiTM, I use to be a storekeeper in machine service factory. My job is about pass the component that the engineer need in odder to avoid they use more time to find the component. I enjoy to key in the stock out and stock in but I still hope to be in more higher level. Now, I enjoying to study all my subject but I cant lie that I also like to playing video game and watching movie sometime.

To be honest, I don't think my communication skill is very well but its doesn't mean that I want to give up with that. Even if I may already own certain communication skills, I think there are some that I'm unaware of or don't use well in my daily activities also I would like to improve that.

Though I don't have a clear professional objective for my long-term career, I love sharing information and believe that working as a secondary school teacher or lecturer in accounting would be a good fit for me. My short-term objectives are to get my diploma scroll, work in accounting for maybe 1-3 years, and then seek a degree in accountancy as well.

I am one of your students for the course Business Communication (MGT269). I decided to register for this course this semester for many reasons. The first one being it is a course compulsory for me to take in order to fulfil the credit hours required this semester. Other than that, I’ve always found management courses to be interesting because I get to learn a variety of skills and concepts that prepare me for leadership roles in organisations and it helps me to improve my communication skills before I graduate and pursue my future career.

Speaking of career, I have a dream that I pray to achieve once I complete my higher education. I hope to pursue a career in the field of media and communications, specifically financial communications or media finance. In this field, I would like to do corporate communications because companies in the finance sector need professionals who can explain complex financial concepts in a way that’s understandable to the public or investors. In the case that corporate communications does not work out for me, I would resort to financial journalism or investor relations.

My favourite activity to do as of late has been filling my free time with filling entries in my digital journal. I have always loved journaling from a very young age because I find that it helps me sort out my thoughts and emotions. Apart from writing in my journal, I also enjoy reading microblogs on my social media and watching TedTalks because it challenges my views and perspective on a lot of matters.

I demonstrate several strengths in my communication skills. One of them being clarity of thought. I express my goals and queries clearly. Whether it’s discussing my career aspirations or the degree choices I’m considering, I am concise and to the point. Other than that, I also have a proactive approach in communicating. I seek information by asking insightful questions and the steps I need to take when I am given a task. This is so I can plan out my strategies. Nonetheless, I do have my own weaknesses in communicating. I often ask for feedback when communicating but I don’t usually reflect on, respond to and iterate on the feedback given. Apart from that, I am also less prone to being assertive when communicating. I ask for a lot of advice and opinions but I rarely explicitly express my stance or preference about the matter.
