It emphasises the significance of scaffolding students and how the students can't just be expected to know how to fully use the methods of science in both practical and non-practical classes. It also made me become aware of how the nature of science, can develop  students to become confident in understanding, critically thinking and solving problems. These are three skills which were unpacked in a number of the planning document attached for example the collaborative planning document, unit of learning and lesson plan. From this reading, I now fully understand the components of an inquiry activity, the main aspect being that the activity involves or relates to an inquiry question. This could also be referred to as a focus questions it ensures students are focusing on the task and they will be required to analyse a scientific topic or issue. For example when carrying out the activity of creating a model I asked students to label the different parts of the model to the parts of the breathing system. I also asked them to critically think about what was happening the structures of the breathing system in their model and what process it illustrates. Secondly when planning and carrying out the investigation to effects of exercise on the breathing rate, I ask students to select a hypothesis which we would test in our experiment.
