1. National Inclusion Week is an annual campaign in the UK that promotes diversity, equality, and inclusion in workplaces and communities. It was started by Inclusive Employers in 2013 and happens every September with a new theme each year. The aim is to raise awareness, spark conversations, and encourage lasting inclusive practices.

Organisations across the UK run workshops, training sessions, and talks on topics like allyship, unconscious bias, and inclusive leadership. Many also hold panel discussions, daily challenges, and networking events to get people involved. Universities, businesses, and charities often launch campaigns or share resources during the week.

Barriers to inclusion include lack of awareness, resistance to change, and tokenistic actions that don’t create real impact. Limited resources or weak leadership support can also make inclusion efforts less effective. In addition, systemic issues like unfair policies or unconscious bias often prevent progress.

You can support inclusion by attending events, learning about different experiences, and challenging exclusionary behaviour. Using inclusive language, amplifying underrepresented voices, and sharing resources also makes a difference. Whether in school, work, or the community, small everyday actions can build a more inclusive culture.
