It very similarly shows and relates to our world now because I feel in our world now people are abusing substances and are getting into drug addiction and making themselves think that they need the drug and rely on it for pleasure and everyday use. In the story it shows the drug Soma being widley used throughout the World state and in todays day people can be addicted from anything like weed to cocaine etc. They use it to try and block out problems and to keep themselves happy and to help with stress.
