One of the critical questions that our administrative team has been working through is, “How do we know that our equity action plan and the equity work that we are engaged in as a school is having an impact on students?” We want to develop a measurable mechanism that enables us to obtain data on the impact of our work. We want parents to be able to measure our progress is specific areas asking specific questions to hold us accountable. The section on Traps and Tropes that discusses the equity warrior, doing equity and siloing equity are dangers that we work to avoid. We also hear, “through student broken telephone” that some areas of the school consistently adhere to old, colonialist structures of teaching and assessing. Therefore, it is urgent for us to identify, implement and reflect on our student and parent feedback processes to inform our progress through our equity action plan.

The conversations around Street Data among staff during our October meeting was impactful after September's FOS meeting. A recognition that satellite data has created equity traps and tropes within our building, and the systems we work within. Discussions are emerging now around authentic and genuine listening, acting, and changing of practice.
