I was born in Barcelona in 1975, a year that marked a pivotal moment in Spanish history. My birth occurred in a politically charged atmosphere, as I arrived just five days before the official death of General Franco. In fact, my parents have told me that although the announcement came after I was born, it was widely rumored that he had already passed away. This meant I was born right on the cusp of a monumental change, the end of a nearly forty-year dictatorship, and the beginning of Spain's transition to democracy.

From what I've been told, daily life was quite different.

I was born in 1979. One thing I remember when I was a child is how we used to make phone calls. There was usually only one telephone in each house, and it was quite different from nowadays. The phone device consisted of a receiver and a round disc with holes. Each hole had a number from 0 to 9. To dial a number, you had to put your finger in the hole for each number, turn it until it stopped and then let it turn back. You had to repeat it for each digit of the phone number. It was slower than today’s phones.

I also remember that televisions didn’t have remote controls. When we watched TV at home and my parents wanted to change the channel, they used to make me get up and dial the channel number directly on the television.

The Simpsons first appeared in 1987 as short animated sketches. These early versions of the characters looked simpler and rougher than the ones we know today. The shorts were created by cartoonist Matt Groening, who came up with the idea on the spot and named the characters after his own family members. The sketches became very popular, and two years later, in 1989, The Simpsons became a full TV series, eventually turning into one of the most famous and longest-running shows in history.

This forced creativity, games and strengthening family bonds. Fashion was bold, domineted by flared trousers and plataforms. I was a less stressed, more present era-a truly imaginate and enriching time.

I was born in Ecuador in 1979. At that time, my country was returning to democracy after 10 years of military dictactorships.

There were no much differences with Spain in how families are used to be organized or in how children would expend their time playing with balls, cars, bycicles, or dolls.
