Evidence: During placement, I encountered a situation where a routine caslicks procedure was not go as smoothly as planned, prompting me to reflect critically on my approach. We managed to calm the restless mare that was having the procedure completed on her, and in the end it resulted in an excellent job.
Description: Applying Mezirow’s concept of disorienting dilemma, this experience forced me to reassess my assumptions about protocol execution. Through feedback from my supervisor and reflective journaling, I developed a more adaptable and responsive mindset, enhancing my professional judgement in unpredictable situations.

Evidence: I improved my ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors over the course of my placement. The racing industry is extremely pressured and mostly faced-paced, and having my vet guide me through his personal approach, allowed me to develop a new sense of patience and professionalism.

Evidence: By the end of placement, I was trusted to perform certain tasks independently that I initially required supervision for (eg. driving the vet's hilux round). Having more experience under my belt has allowed me to fully comprehend my appreciation for equine veterinary practice and develops my ambitions for the future.
