It took her about 16 days to get from Guatemala to Oceanside. Her journey from Guatemala to mexico was in buses and sometimes a little bit of walking. And once she got to the border of Sonora to come into Arizona my mom then illegally crossed the border in a pick up truck where the destination was Phoenix Arizona. And from Phoenix her best friends husband whom was my moms neighbor in Guatemala and their friend went to go pick them up. And from Phoenix they came to Oceanside. She had no blankets or sleeping bags with. Keeping in mind that my mom was not the only one immigrating to the U.S. her friend/neighbor came with her through the whole journey as well with about 40 other people.

And my grandfather came to the U.S. when he 22 years old he then immigrated to Texas and after he got to Texas he went to go live in Florida then he moved to Idaho and then he moved to Arizona and then he moved here to Oceanside California. And my grandmother on the other hand she legally came to the U.S. many years later. My dad from Mexico to Tijuana he came airplane and then from tijuana he crossed in a car illegally. My dad did not have any obstacles along his journey to the U.S. because like I said he came through airplane from mexico to the Tijuana airport and from there he waited a few days in T.J. until he crossed the border illegally through a car. Both my grandfather and my dad came to the U.S. for a better life and to work hard. When he came here he was 15 years old and so my grandpa enrolled him here at El Camino high school when he started he was half way through his Sophmore year. Once graduating El Camino, he worked for the next 3 - 4 years until he had me and once he had me he got another better job. And now he thankfully has been working there for the past 14 years since was born.

His experiences coming to the U.S was that he did not have many or any obstacles because he was prepared for his trip.
