         <description><![CDATA[<p>James Polk was born on November 2nd,1795 near Pineville, North Carolina.</p><p>Polk was in the Democratic party and he was a top student. He graduated from the university of North Carolina in 1818 Polk studied under a leading Nashville attorney. After graduation Polk served in the Tennesse lehistlature in the United States Congress. James Polk served in the Tennessee legistlature and the US congress. In 1839 Polk became the governor&nbsp;of Tennessee. Then in 1845 Polk became President.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>James Polk was refferred to as "Dark Horse" because he was able to win the presidency in 1844 for Dark Horse. While Polk was president he extended American Territories by one third across the continent. Polk cut tariffs and made the US independent. His goal was to secure the Oregon territories from Mew Mexico and California. A speech famous by James Polk was the inaugural address his first speech in 1845. </p>]]></description>

Sadly the stress of the presidency had left him in poor health and he died in Summer</p><p>on June 15 1849 when he was 53 years old...</p>]]></description>
