The <em>Iroquois </em>decorated clothing with porkypine quills or shell beads that were beautifully arranged. <strong>Geometric</strong> patterns were woven into baskets. The <em>Iroquois </em>used clay pots for storing,cooking, and serving food. <em>Iroquois </em>mothers made cornhusk dolls for their children. The dolls were made without a face. This was to teach the children that’s the way they look is not important as who they are.. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Deer were a main food for the <em>Iroquois. </em>The meat was put in stews and cooked on it’s own. It was dried for future use. In the past, <em>Iroquois</em> found some of their food in nature. They hunted animals and gathered plants that were found in the area. They also planted food crops in which they grew vegetables. The <em>Iroquois </em>fished pike,sturgeon, and bass. Fish were dried over fires. Most were stored for later use.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Algonquin women wore sleeveless,tunic-style dresses made from animal hides. Algonquin men wore made from animal hides. They would wear loincloths in the summer months. These were strips of cloth that covered the lower parts of there body. Men often wore a headdress called a hair roach. This was a strip of porcupine hair that sat on the back of their head. To keep warm in the winter, the Algonquin made mittens and toques out of the skins and furs of muskrats and beavers. The Algonquin wore moccasins to protect their feet. These were made from animal hides. </div>]]></description>

(Mi’Kmaq, Cree,Salish,Denesuline,Sioux,Ojibwa) These groups came together to form Iroquois <strong>Confederacy</strong> about 400 years ago. The confederacy kept peace among it’s members. It also offered each group help and protection from it’s enemies.<br><br>The Iroquois’ <strong>traditional </strong>ands cover what is now southern Ontario and Quebec in Canada, as well as parts of NYC, Michigan, and Wisconsin in the US.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

Metis men also wore a colourful sash around their waist. It was a very practical piece of clothing. It could be used as a rope, bandage, washcloth, towel or emergency saddle blanket.</div>]]></description>

The stone was sharpened so that it would cut through materials. Wood often formed the tool’s handle. To make clothing, the Iroquois used sewing needles madness from bone. Sharpened stones were used to scrape and smoothen animal hides. </div>]]></description>

Cedar was used because it wasn’t more waterproof than other trees in the area. It helped keep water out of the homes.<br><br>Inside the floors of the longhouse were made of earth. Mats often covered the bare ground. The walls were lined with low platforms for sleeping. Above the platforms we’re storage shelves. Several fire pits kept the house warm Andy cozy! Long ago, they lived on the Atlantic coast. They moved to the Ottawa Valley about 600 years ago. Today, there are about 8,000 Algonquin living in Canada. Some live in cities and towns, but most live in one of 10 reserves. 9 of these reserves are located in Quebec. 1 of these reserves is located in Ontario. </div>]]></description>
