MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions)
EPA (this can refer to end-point assessment or the end-point Assessor. The term is used interchangeably, so you need to look at the context in which it i being used
AAO (Approved Assessment Organisation) this is the tag used for organisations that can undertake end-point assessment
RoAAO (Register of Assessment Organisations) any organisation wishing to offer end-point assessment has to be on the register. An AAO has to apply to the ESFA for each standard they wish to assess in. Applications can be made on a monthly basis. HIT is approved for HTM and we have applications in for all of the approved Hospitality standards and assessment plans, so we are awaiting feedback. We are talking with the ESFA about the set-up of Professional Assessment, anew brand for HIT
IQA (Internal Quality Assurance)
EQA (External Quality Assurance)
Synoptic assessment this is the assessment term for the components of end-point assessment
Independent assessment any EPA has to be completely independent from the programme delivery of the apprenticeship
RoATO (Register of Approved Training Organisations) To provide apprenticeship training, a provider has to be on this register. Providers can be removed from the register for a range of reasons to include malpractice; serious non-compliance and financial irregularities; getting a grade 4 in an OFSTED; failing to meet the minimum QAR rates and falling below the EFSA's minimum levels of performance
ESFA- the SFA are now known as the ESFA, the Education and Skills funding agency, they are operationally in charge of approved training and assessment organisations

All of the policies are relevant , however the policy that has particular weight  regarding safe end-point assessment is the 'conflict of interest policy'. All staff involved in any EPA will have to complete a declaration of independence.

Sampling,risk banding and standardisation of assessment activities are also a major priority for EQAs and the Institute of Apprenticeships.

The policies are similar to those held by HIT as a training organisation, but they do contain noticeable differences.

    • The workshops will consist of trainers input and a range of activities to inform participants about synoptic assessment.

    Handouts will be provided, however it is advised you take notes.
    • It is recommended you print off copies of the HTM and CC assessment plans, as we will refer to these throughout the two days.
    The training days have full agendas and we request that all participants endeavour to complete activities and exercises in a timely manner.
