I think digital forensics is very high tech now days and you can virtually solve almost any crime in this day and age because everyone nowadays uses technology at some point to help them with their crime. With digital forensics you can look at anyone's search history and a lot of times the criminal would've looked up how to do a certain part of his crime and I believe you can solve a bunch of cases by analyzing someone's text messages, emails, or recent phone calls. I believe without digital forensics there would be so many horrible crimes unsolved and people would be getting away with a lot more.
