Introduction

Most of the world's societies are making progress in the civil liberties of citizens because we are understanding human dignity differently: now the right to life is accompanied by the right to die with dignity, the right to life is accompanied by the right of a woman to make decisions about her body, and that's a good thing.
It is gratifying to witness this paradigm shift because, in my opinion, there are many compelling reasons and hard data that show how beneficial and healthy it is for society to break some boundaries that the hegemony of the Catholic Church did not allow before.
Today it is my turn to speak more specifically about euthanasia, with which of course I agree, and here are my 2 main arguments.

First argument

Undoubtedly we are talking about a subject that tests personal beliefs, and that is not necessarily full of mathematical data to support each position, because beliefs do not usually follow figures but experiences; in the same way I will present my ethical line of argument with hard figures that usually make the reader's eyes shine.

It is an inherent and international human right to direct our own lives, this should also imply deciding when and why to die from pain caused by disease (self-determination) with full dignity, of course, after we as a society have provided all existing treatment.

A recent survey by the Centro de Estudios Públicos revealed that 56% of Chileans surveyed are in favor of the implementation of death with dignity. Chile already shows the previous cultural change that is very necessary to implement this measure.
77% of Chilean doctors, who have accompanied many patients in their pain, support this motion.
In countries where the rule has been approved, euthanasia cases do not explode exponentially, and do not represent more than 4% of the causes of death.
Also, the majority (87%) of those who resort to this measure are over 65 years of age and mainly because of an incurable cancer that causes them unceasing pain.
Finally, all, 100% of the countries where this measure was approved, have not reduced their political efforts to improve their health system, as reflected in the bills to improve the aforementioned system.

Second argument

My second argument is directly numerical. Although this is a matter of principle, we should not be innocent: money influences everything, and politicians know this very well.

According to an international study by the University of St. Louis in Wisconsin, it is 85% more expensive for the public health system to maintain a patient during palliative care than to let him die with dignity if it is his decision. It is imperative to warn that this should not be a measure that should be promoted, not at all, but it is a factor to be considered.

As a brief conclusion, allowing people who are suffering to decide when and how to die should be a right for which we are prepared as a society, our doctors are willing, it does not increase the cases that would need euthanasia and it is more economical for countries and patients.

Death with dignity is freedom!

It's a factor to consider, of course, but when we talk about numbers we're talking about an individual or institution (who can make mistakes) and you are giving someone the power to decide who lives and who doesn't. So it's no a decision only of the patient.

Briefly, you can't play with people's lives that way.

Counterargument 1

First of all, a doctor has a duty to save lives, not to kill or destroy them, so it is not so easy to strip them of their oath.

Secondly, an individual can make his or her own decisions, but he or she can make mistakes, so it is the doctor who knows the best course of action for the patient.

Perhaps euthanasia does not stop the abstract development of health systems, but it does open the door to no further development of medicine. A University of Madrid survey of Spanish physicians revealed that 62% of them believed that diseases with no cure should be treated with euthanasia, thus losing interest in developing new cures.
