Det er det er Johanes døberens fødsels dag 6 måneder efter Jesuses fødselsdag.

Fordi da england, erobrede landet tog de alle deres kartofler, og gav dem græskar i stedet. Og så skar de dem ud for at skræmme englænderne. Også flygtede de til USA og sådan kom det, altså det hvor man rasler er fra USA men traditionen kommer fra Irland.
