At first we were given 7 words to look at in groups of 5/6. We were given a short amount of time to create a story and act out a short scene from the information we gathered.
We were put into different groups the lesson after and given the same 7 words but this time the list included a title. Ours was "The Murder". We first acted out a short scene in an unrealistic way with everyone lying on the ground, one person stood up to 'murder' us.
We were then given the task to act the scene out but this time in a naturalistic way.
We then had to act the same scene but in both a naturalistic and non-naturalistic way.

looked at a complicate exercise using bamboo sticks. we looked at preciseness. we all had to decide on exactly how the stick should be in front of us all. worked together to decide. e.g. 6 inches above ground, hand in front of our chest, staring right at the stick as we walk, has to be completely straight. this was important as it firstly taught us to work together to decide on something, secondly helped us to learn how to be completely precise so when we're performing specific scenes to the audience, everything looks polished and put together.
we developed it even further and we started doing this in groups of three. we worked together in threes, with leaders switching, the people on the sides being in control of where we go and which way the sticks flow/move. the easy thing about it was the communication between us and deciding when to turn or move. the hard thing about it was keeping up with the other two in the group and making sure everyone looked the exact same as we walked around. we had to change the way we communicated at times to keep up.
we developed this to working in pairs, at first working together and moving across the room with the bamboo sticks with either of us being in control. then the sticks were taken away, this built a relationship, it could be used to tell a short story. responding off of people, critical when doing this in movement. learnt through these exercises the importance of the decision of movement and what it communicated to the audience. the sticks can be used to create ships, boats, forests, which is what we wouldnt be able to make on stage using other things.
