  • Cleveland was president at the time and he disapproved of the planters doing and tried to get Liliuokalani back in power of Hawaii

  • Sanford Dole was born in Hawaii by American parents in 1844 and died in 1926. During his lifetime, he played a crucial role in the Annexation of Hawaii by being one of the people that planned the revolt of the Hawaii government. He created a provisional government to annex the United States and Hawaii but when President Cleveland requested Liliuokalani back on the throne of Hawaii, Dole refused and would later become the governor of the Hawaii under President McKinley when was broke out and Hawaii was a useful asset to the United States.

  • USS Boston was a crusier that stayed off the Hawaiian shores to protect American interests in Hawaii. When the planters staged a revolt against Queen Liliuokalani, they called for assistance from the marines of USS Boston. The marines alongside the American planters stormed onto the islands and took out Queen Liliuokalani, forcing her to abdicate while they create a provisional government to have the United States annex Hawaii.
