As a Mama I feel its important to introduce my daughter to everything I can so she can pick what she likes and doesn't like. I gave her life but it's hers to live. "Girls can do whatever boys can, and boys can do whatever girls can."

Being a women to me is knowing it's okay to feel and look weak, it takes a strong person to know when they are struggling. It's okay to never feel like the super mommy that your baby views you as, you're still the best in their eyes despite your hard times. During this time, I was experiencing postpartum depression due to my own childhood experiences and being a single mother. I was told by my nana that I need to "suck it up and take care of that baby because she didn't ask to be here, and there isn't enough time in the day for tears"

In this picture, I lived with a foster family that wanted to adopt all 5 of my siblings. I was the happiest here because She allowed me to play in the dirt and mark up my legs, like my brother did. She allowed me tp explore the thrill or displeasure rough playing brought me. She put me in a dress of every color but with sneakers and not tights and ballerina shoes. she hardly did my hair but asked me if I wanted it done or not because she wanted me to decide what person I was not be who my mother and nana wanted me to be. A girl who was pretty and only spoke when spoken it.

For as long as I can remember, I was always in dresses and shirts, and told how beautiful I am but never about my favorite color or subject. adults assumed it was pink and English, which I grew to like but now realize blue is my soul color, and English is my favorite subject because I love to pull things apart critically. My family always made sure my hair was braided nice, to the point I began loosing my edges. Looking nice was more important than the health of my hair. My grandmother told me my mother began doing my hair at 8 months old, that's crazy to me. I also learned not to cry to much because "no one wants to hear that" or "you're to pretty to cry`"

A women to me is everything that shapes Aariana. To be a women is to be comfortable in the skin I wake up in, without feeling the need to paint over my flaws and imperfections. I'm learning that imperfections doesn't mean something is bad but a flower that has not yet bloomed and just needs some extra water and sunlight.
