Vygotsky believed that social interaction is important for  a child's development on their linguistic, social, and cognitive levels. The teacher is the facilitator and assists the child only if the child has a task that is beyond what they are capable of fulfilling. He also believed that children should be grouped through a mixture of different ages. This practice is still used in many Early Childhood Institutions.
