Germany suffered a lot of problems due to the Treaty of Versailles. The most common problems include:
- experiencing the great depression
- having a restricted army of 100,000 men so they can't fight back against the treaty
- The German people had to accept that it was their fault for the war
- They lost much of their territory
- Restricted from using air/water units like submarines and planes
- Caused many to starve
- Experience poverty and became extremely poor
- It eventually led to the Nazi party being formed as well as the leading party losing lots of power and support.
- They had to pay reparations for the war, 6,600million pounds.
- Germany lost all their colonies in foreign countries as well as their territory loss meaning more colonies being lost.
- This also led to Adolf Hitler gaining power easily

-Lost coal mines (Saar Mine) and industrial areas

-Lost a part of their population

-Had to give out large amounts of it’s territory

-Had to dismantle its military and was forced to admit responsibility for the war

-Was required to pay large financial reparations, in total 32 billion dollars, equivalent to 393 billion now.

-German public was shocked, Germany was unable to oppose or alter the terms of the treaty. If Germany refused the treaty the allies threatened to invade.

-One of the points was that Germany had to turn over its entire navy. Angry at this they decided to sink all of their remaining ships.

-The leaders who had to sign the treaty of versailles were referred to as the “November Criminals”. As a result of this, the German public turned away from the party that assumed power after the war and started to support the radical parties, this was when the Nazi Party came into power with their World War 1 veteran leader, Adolf Hitler.

-Georges Clamenceau (Most radical of the authors of the treaty) wanted Germany to never be able to post a threat to France again. He restricted the rebuilding of their military, their military was limited to only 100,000. They were prohibited of owning submarines, tanks or an airforce.

-Germany failed to meet reparation requirements in 1922, France occupied the “ruhr" which was an important industrial area causing Germany’s economic distress to increase even further. German industries went on strike contributing to the hyperinflation which destroyed the German mark, creating even more economic distress. On top of this Germany’s colonies were taken away and given to France and England.

-This caused some starvation of children.

-The German public was eager to hear and agree with the dynamic Adolf Hitler. Hitler promised to over throw the treaty of versailles, He promised to make Germany great again and to bring back their lost territories.
