The difference between the parts played by the binary genders in mythological contexts is quite striking. Men will almost always assume roles of physical power — great physical strength, agility, speed, etc. Women, on the other hand, are usually forced into more questionable roles, drawing their power, reputation and glory from sorcery and other less-than-provable external forces.

Circe used her physical attributes to attract men to her island, where she hexed them so they turned into pigs. She would display her body to tempt them, turning them into slaves of their own hormones. This would be less accepted in today's society, what with the level of disdain for women wanting to reveal more skin, whether it be for their own sake, or to attract men. The latter is actually a less common scenario, but the criticism of it is at the same level. This is slightly strange, as the objectification and sexualisation of women is frequent, evident in the media and how it depicts the female body.
