I was raised baptist. Growing up, my family went to church quite often. My grandma was a very active church goer; however, when she got sick, it was too difficult for her to go to church. and we became very minimal church goers. Now, my family does not actively practice any particular religion but we are more in touch with our own spirituality. My upbringing really induced my spiritual nature because even if we did not actively attend church, we always had faith in something bigger than us.

I was raised to always ALWAYS respect the elderly. My mom made sure that i always said spoke when in the presence of the elderly and I always said please, thank you, or no thank you. My family definitely did not and still doesn't mess around when it comes to respecting the elderly.

My family is a mixture of formal and informal. When it comes to holidays and traditions, we definitely keep traditions alive. However, when it comes to eating dinner at the table every night, we were not traditional in that sense. My family also never followed formal roles such as marriage first and then children. My parents were never married or together and they co-parented wonderfully.
