         <description><![CDATA[<div>Social<br>The Powhatan tribe had different roles depending on gender and age. Men where hunters and warriors. They made tools to supply their hunting gear. They also made fishing  equipment and canoes.<br>Men and woman both build the houses together. The men would construct the framework while the woman would make mats or find bark to cover the structure. The woman would also grow crops and cook meals. The female children of the tribe would garden, pound corn, and care for other younger children. The male children would learn to fish and hunt. But women with babies carried them on cradle boards strapped to their backs.</div>]]></description>

All villages in the same region would belong to one tribe and each tribe had its own chief called Werowance (male) or Werowansqua (female). villages within a tribe had their own leader who would answer to the tribal chief.</div>]]></description>
