In the novel "The Hunger Games," one conflict mentioned is between Peeta and Katniss. In chapter 10, page 134 when Peeta put her in the "star-crossed lovers" situation, Katniss said, "You had no right! No right to go saying those things about me." This shows how the main character, Katniss, yelled at Peeta to make it clear to him that he shouldn't have put her in that scenario. In the novel "The Hunger Games," one of the conflicts mentioned is between Katniss and the Game's obstacles, like fire. In chapter 13, page 172 the novel stated, "I hurdle over a burning log. Not high enough. The trail end of my jacket catches on fire and I have to stop to rip it from my body and stamp out the flames." This shows how the main character, Katniss, had to deal with the problems that the fire caused. Might possibly even be executed, slowly and painfully while the cameras broadcast it to every screen in the country. If Peeta and I were both to die, or they thought we were..." At the start of the novel, Katniss is protecting. I know this because the text mentions, "With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me. 'I volunteer!' I gasp. 'I volunteer as tribute!'" Katniss took her sister's spot in the Hunger Games because she deeply cared about her. During the events that unfold Katniss begins to change. This can be seen in chapter 18, when it states, "The boy from District 1 dies before he can pull out the spear. My arrow drives deeply into the center of his neck. He falls to his knees and halves the brief remainder of his life by yanking out the arrow and drowning in his own blood." This shows that Katniss had become a killer during the Games. At the end of the novel, Katniss outsmarts the Gamemakers' by fooling them by pretending to commit suicide along with Peeta. This information is shown when the novel expresses, "Without a victor, the whole thing would blow up in the Gamemakers' faces. They'd have failed the Capitol. Might possibly even be executed, slowly and painfully while the cameras broadcast it to every screen in the country If Peeta and I were both to die, or they thought we were..." This shows that the Games helped build her trickster character. My favorite part was when Katniss outsmarted the Hunger Games by taking a stand. My least favorite part was when Rue died because she seemed like such a fun-loving girl, but ended up losing her life to a spear. My favorite character was Peeta because he deeply cared for Katniss and was selfless. My least favorite character was Katniss because she tricked Peeta into thinking that she genuinely loved him. If I could change one thing, it would be Katniss’s father dying, because I feel that he would’ve given Katniss good advice and contributed to the storyline. One technique the author used that I liked was the flashbacks because they helped us understand how Katniss became who she was and where she is. One example of this is when Katniss flashes back to when Peeta gave her the bread which became her symbol of hope. In chapter 2, page 32, the book states “To this day, I can never shake the connection between this boy, Peet Mellark, and the bread that gave me hope.” This shows that the bread helped her persevere through hardship. I would recommend this book because it keeps you intrigued and the characters have personalities you will never forget.

These lyrics make me think of the novel when Peeta shows jealously toward Katniss's relationship with Gale. This can be seen in chapter 10 on page 136. The lyrics "So, why can't you see? These lyrics made me think of the novel when Katniss reveals she showed affection towards Peeta just for the Games. This can be seen in chapter 27 on page 372. The lyric "I play my part and you play your game." connects to this.
