My name is Joyce Polk, but I have always gone by my middle name, LyAnne (pronounced LeighAnn.) I graduated from Bryan County High School in 1997 and went on to Georgia Southern to get my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. Ever since graduating in December 2001, I have been teaching at Bryan County Elementary School. My experience there has been in both 3rd and 4th grade classrooms, ranging from Special Ed. to Gifted and Advanced Content.

When I'm not working or studying for school, I stay busy with my family. My husband and I have three children: Mary-Ellen, 12, and 10-year-old twins Ava and Trevin. In addition to these three, we have 2 cats and 4 dogs!! There is never a boring moment!

Career Plans

I have always been a self-contained teacher, responsible for all subjects. My passion, however, lies in technology and books. This led me back to GSU with aspirations to gain my Masters Degree in Instructional Technology, Media Specialist. Our current librarian plans to retire after the 2015-2016 school year, and I hope to be her successor.
