We first met on the Zaldupe bridge at 17.30 to go all together to the beach. When we arrived, at first, we didn’t see any rubbish but as we got closer to the big rocks we saw a lot of plastics, wood sticks, and strings. We decided to take some rocks and sticks for the project, and we also took a lot of photos of all we saw.

Suddenly, Illare and I had an idea, we decided to go to the river next to the beach to take some algae for our project. We took some of them and we put them in a bag to dry them.

Later, when we finished our search for debris and things for our project and took a lot of photos too, we sat next to the rocks. We wanted to listen to music so Aiza turned on her mobile phone and we ended up listening from the amazing and talented artist, Taylor Swift. We talked and later we made a rock tower together with the pretty music.

Some ideas were a Christmas tree, a little shop, jellyfishes, or some abstract art. But, in the end, I decided to make a little sailboat. I thought of this idea because I found it interesting, because normal boats and sailboats are always in the oceans, and they are one of the main ways that the oceans are really polluted. 

And also because I think that it will be a good experience making a sailboat with the marine debris I found earlier. 

For the sailboat I got some inspiration from the internet and I added those inspirations and ideas to my main ideas.

I started looking at photos on the internet of boats made out of marine debri and I saw a few pretty ones, so from those who I liked I started making my own piece of art.

I divided my work into two different days. I started with the base of the creation on May 30. I also started preparing the sail for the sailboat. I put some rocks as if they were the surface of the sailboat and I also made some fishes out of wood that I found.

Right after that day, on May 31th I finally finished my piece of art. I liked the final product that I made. I didn’t think it’d look that good but, at the end, I saw that I had my expectations lower than I needed to.

I put the different pieces (The sailboat and the little fishes) all together into a cardboard piece and finally finished my project happily.

As I earlier said, we divided the work in three different steps, the first one was named `STEP 1´ and it consisted in collecting different types of marine debris. For this step I went to Saturraran beach on May 8th with my friends, Aiza, Illare, Naiara, Enara and June. As a fun fact we listened to the talented singer, Taylor Swift while collecting marine debris. When we took the different debris with us to our houses, we needed to make a text, a speaking and some drawings (visual thinking) explaining the same thing, what we did in the first step.

Later, on May 17th we made the second step named `STEP 2´. This step was about thinking in the piece of art we wanted to do in the next step, and with this we needed to make a text, a speaking, some drawings (visual thinking) and lastly a list of materials that we’ll use for the piece of art. My list had Rocks, Algae, Wood Sticks, Plastics, Silicone, Normal glue, String and Cardboard in it.

To finish with the steps, between May 30th and 31st we made the last step which was named `STEP 3-4´. It had two numbers because we combined the last two steps in one. In this step, we needed to start and finish our piece of art. I made a sailboat in the middle of the ocean because I found it interesting when I searched for ideas on the internet.. To start with my piece of art I stuck some rocks and wood sticks on a small piece of cardboard. Lastly, I made a sail for the sailboat and put it in a big rock which was the floor of the little boat.

To finish the project our teacher planned an art exhibition in Zaldupe, in which we needed to explain the project and talk about our piece of art to children in LH4 and LH6. My teammates were Illare and Aiza and we had a great time explaining the project. In my opinion, we all made a good presentation and talked properly to the children. I first was afraid of talking to the students but as the time passed I gained more confidence about talking.

In conclusion, I liked the project a lot and I think that it has been a fun way to develop a project. All the steps were fun and interesting to do. Personally, I've learned a lot from this project like how much we pollute from just throwing plastic and trash to the floor. From now on, I'll try to not pollute that much and start recycling more seriously.
