It was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair. In an article regarding the history of the space needle it says, “The Space Needle officially opened the first day of the World’s Fair. During the expo the tower hosted an estimated 2.65 million visitors. They included world celebrities including Elvis Presley, the Shah and Empress of Iran, Prince Philip of Great Britain, Bobby Kennedy, Walter Cronkite, John Wayne, Bob Hope, Chubby Checker, Billy Graham, John Glenn, Jonas Salk, Carol Channing, Neil Armstrong, Lyndon Johnson, Walt Disney and scores of others.

PERCEPTUAL REGION
Washington State Cultural

Washington is known to be nonreligious state. In an article I found it says, "Around 35% of the state's population consider themselves religious, with around 12% of these identify themselves as Catholic. Other than Christian denominations, such as the Mormons, Baptist, and Pentecostal churches have small minorities. Compared to the rest of our country, Washington State is not considered a religious state"(World Travel Guide, 2013, pg 1). This is an example of a perceptual region because it explains how people are viewed in Washington State.

Also in 2017, Forbes.com predicted that Washington will also be a top 10 job creator in the future. This is exactly what you’d expect from a state where some of the largest companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Boeing are located" (Stack, 2018, pg. 5).
