         <description><![CDATA[<p>How does Self-Harm affect Callie and the other characters in the book?</p><p>- <b>Self-harm </b>is defined as the intentional, direct injuring of body tissue most often done without&nbsp;<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide">suicidal</a>&nbsp;intentions.</p><p>-Self mutilation, cutting, scratching,  burns, body modification (intentional wounds)</p><p>- Not limited to self-mutilation but also concerns well being.&nbsp;</p><p>- Examples of other types of self harm: starvation, binge eating, drug use, alcohol abuse</p><p>- Not attention seeking, usually self harmers hide their scars</p><p>- Used as a coping mechanism to relieve emotional pain</p>]]></description>
