My crops are growing so much better than before, when those pest got to it I really thought that it was over for a long time. The great depression is kinda coming to an end i think. Things are getting way better than before, but they seem to be getting worse at the same time like a calm before the storm. Have I had known that I'd lose this many crops I would never have planted anything here at all, If only I would've known before what I know now. Life would've been much better for me, i could've gotten us to somewhere on the country side, out of Canada. We would all be happy and not having to starve and cry. I am truly sorry..

A phrase Mary would say after going through bad times. The great depression was begging to start and Mary had lost almost all her money to the stock market. She had no way of getting that money back and she also had to take care of her family since they too were in a state of despair and desperation. 'Archi' was what he was called by loved ones .He enjoyed playing music in the town square, dressed up in costumes that covered him head to toe. he wanted everyone to listen his music without him facing discrimination. He would visit his wife, Adore in the afternoon and sing her favourite song whilst dancing. They didn't make much but were happy and content where they were.

Nothing makes me more sorrowful than when i'm being called and referred to as someone I'm not. My name is not George, I am Archibald Bowers. I work hard all my life yet I receive nothing in return and get treated like a dead man. My Co-workers and I have already been through enough as it is. Today was a tiring day and tiring days required me to be in the smoking room, hoping the smell and the taste of cigarettes will keep me awake. The hard part though is to not smell of smoke around the kids when tending to them. Serving meals is my favourite part of the job, I like to see the faces when they light up like the sun, Bright and joyus; but you can't talk to the sun can you?

I am grateful for the money you gave me. i was able to pay off the debts with it and fix up the old house! it's more beautiful than ever and my family can sleep without having to worry about raining days and nights. Being in this house is like being a princess in a fairytale. This might sound ridiculous but, i have fairytale fantasies..I'm sure every women have. We may be grown women above, but underneath we're just little girls..dreaming about being carried off by a prince on a white horse out of this depression. I'm starting understand the importance of voting and will be voting for you around the next time. You've done nothing but make me and my family happy during these awful times.

She is seen as not feminine enough to most males because of this, but that doesn't stop her from farming. She loves the farming life, growing plants/crops and taking care of animals. The feel of it all makes her happy and it makes her feel free.

During the depression she lost alot of crops and money.
