At first, we were all confused by what was meant by the word 'pattern', so, we didn't really do anything at first.
Some time later, a few people suggested the idea of using the skeleton that was in the classroom, and creating some sort of 'cult' aesthetic. Funnily enough, everyone was really fixed on the idea, and decided to put their on input and ideas.
We did have to redo the idea after our first attempt, since it wasn't exactly what we wanted. 
After going through some agreements, as well as disagreements, it really made us understand by the end of the project, that we were all using some methods of critical thinking subconsciously.

 I feel as though the idea of storytelling, is an extremely important medium in films since it allows the creation of a concept in written form.
I wanted to heavily focus and research on scripts in animation. So I will be researching scripts from animated shows and films online.

The style of animation that we had decided on pursuing is Stop Motion. We aren't too sure if we will be mixing different types of stop motion, however, for the time being, it will be fully puppet. We have already organized the roles for each of the people so we were heavily focusing on a story. We all tried to contribute each of our ideas into the story so we can know roughly what we are working on.
I wrote the ideas in this formant so I can have some idea on how many scenes we will be having for our animation.

In addition to this, I also tried to remove shots that would have some plot holes since I didn't want to have our storyboarder be confused on the story as well as the audience.

I feel as though they are going to be really useful for me since they are going to teach me how scripts are written for animation.
I've noticed when reading a couple of pages of the Encanto script, that they tend to be descriptive.

My teacher recommended me to use Celtx since it is really good for those who are beginners. I've been watching videos on YouTube on how to use the software and thankfully it has been extremely helpful as well as simple.

Thankfully the story is pretty understandable to them as well as to the audience, however, I just need to tweak it a bit more so I can get the story that I want to tell for the Stop Motion film.
I also had a meeting with one of my teachers with my group so we could ask her about her opinion about the story as well as the script. Thankfully, due to her constructive criticism we were able to solve quite a few plot holes, as well as the way the story flows. 
One of the plot holes we faced was trying to get the audience to understand that Pierre (imaginary friend) would be leaving. So, we will probably include a flashback that would show the kid playing with their imaginary friend. We wanted to show that they have been really close as friends so we wanted to have a large impact on the audience. In addition to this, we wanted to show that the girl is bothered by the idea that it is her friend's last day in her magic treehouse.
Lastly, another plot hole we faced was we were unsure on how to end it without it being too predictable. So, what we decided as a group was to make the child be shown alone in a dark room. Once she is able to find the light switch and switch the lights on, it is then that we realize that everything has gone silent and lonely to the girl. We wanted to make sure the end could be quite memorable and heart wrenching to the audience.
I should be tweaking the script again and should have it done in a couple of days.

We were basing these off one of the script attempts that I had, so we can play around by moving scenes that we felt were necessary.
Luckily enough, the beginning of the animation stayed the same since it was a fleshed out opening, however, the rest of the script had to have minor changes to the story as well as details.
This exercise extremely helped me visualize the storyboard as well as the set when trying to animate the short film. This method also allowed us to communicate as a team and express ideas to help solve plot holes for the story.
This exercise helped show me that communication and how everyone in the group was able to express their ideas and narrative for the story which helped improve our issues with the story.
In addition to this, I watched a youtube video, to help how thumbnails for storyboards work and why they are extremely important during the pre-production stage.

It really helped to get out of my comfort zone and create extremely rough sketches of the scenes to try to make the story make some what sense to the viewer.

When working on the script I noticed that there were a lot of questions regarding Azra's (the girl) emotions. Why was she feeling sad? How will we demonstrate these emotions to the audience? These questions really made me struggle with trying to solve them. 
To create a solution to this, we decided to create thumbnail drawings of a rushed version of the storyboard so we could fully understand how scenes would be shown in the animation and how things would be changed when noticing the anomalies.

We were able to fix a lot of the issues that we had for the plot and tried to think as a team what would suit the story better.
So, for the story, we decided to include cut away shots so we can avoid doing too much unnecessary movement for the puppets. We felt as though the best way to show these cut away shots is to show still shots of photographs of the two characters, so we can show how close they are and how much they spend time together. That the imaginary friend has always been there for the child and that the kid's escapism is their treehouse.
We also thought that there would be a huge significance for the 'cake', since it is such an important symbol for the story. We wanted to make the whole idea of blowing the candles similar to a timer and on how the childhood friend, Pierre, will be leaving by the end.

Luckily, I found a book named "film directing shot by shot, visualizing from concept to screen" by Steven d.Katz.
 It was able to help me with script writing since it helped me be able to ask questions such as "What is the purpose of this scene?", "What do you want the characters to feel?", "What do you want the audience to find out?" etc. It allowed me to question what were the intentions that I wanted to show through the script and why it would be necessary to include them. By doing this, I was able to develop the story to the best of my capabilities and solve issues within the story for example: the plot holes, emotions of the characters etc

Here is the rough Animatic that I ended up doing for my group project. It is extremely rough so it isn't close to its final stage yet. I wanted to experiment a bit since I tried to follow the storyboard and the script perfectly. I could've used the panels of the storyboard for the animatic, however, I felt as though I wanted to capture some sort of movement of the characters within this so the animators could have an understanding on how the film would feel like.
I feel extremely proud making this since it is a story that I have tried to develop to the best of my capabilities with the help of my peers and tutors.

I wanted her dinosaur toy to be a symbol in the animation which was why I decided to leave it alone on the table with the birthday cake, to properly emphasize the idea of growing up.
What could I improve on? I feel as though the flashback could be improved a lot more since it feels extremely rushed, so, I feel as though I should've added a few additional shots of Azra trying to find Pierre, however, she ends up finding the dinosaur toy instead at the end of the game. I felt as though this was extremely appropriate since I wanted to emphasize AGAIN the idea of loneliness and how close they both were in the treehouse.
What was I proud of? I really liked the idea of using Azra's drawings as cut away shots which made it seem like they are both out of time and that they won't be together anymore.
