Race didn't just pop up because <br><br>How make teaching moment?<br>- Address Rodney King Riots<br>- Full class based, needs to be discussed even if your curriculum doesn't cover it.<br><br>Should Admin be involved?<br>- impromptu discussion is one thing <br>- can maybe put a lesson together for another day- have it approved by admin <br>- not just the students in your class- talk to admin to create a school-wide program to educate them <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Initial Reactions<br>- Don't tear them down, maybe some misunderstanding. Ask if they are interested in learning. more later. Come to them openly and see where they're coming from and ask if they want to have a conversation later. If they say no, conversation won't happen but <br><br>What if it was your CMT?<br>- wouldn't say anything to them because they're in a bigger position of power <br>- use this as a teaching moment for yourself- I need to be an advocate for my students<br><br>- you should say something, especially the reverse racism piece<br>- ask them why they think that way, be inquisitive to get to the root where it's from, trying to have a greater understanding to make sure you don't fall into the same cycle<br><br>-important to push back, you need to advocate to higher up too </div>]]></description>
