Intro Paragraph- Police brutality has gone unnoticed for numerous years due to the lack of technology. However, with newfound smartphones and smartwatches, their ability to disseminate information to as many people in the least amount of time has allowed this controversial issue to come to the forefront. What is troubling is, despite the recordings, many police who commit these heinous crimes are acquitted or not punished at all. This creates a myriad of issues within the force, the community, and other stakeholders. Based on this, the government should implement a check and balance system to monitor police actions in order decrease the probability of additional incidents and to continue hiring and maintaining officers who honor the oath with integrity.
BP 1 - Monitoring police actions will decrease the likelihood of additional incidents of police brutality.
BP 2 - Communities are aware of the insurmountable number of officers who honor their oath with integrity. However, for those who do not, we need to create a system that they will no longer be able to wear a badge that symbolizes the very thing they are dishonoring.
Counterargument- While many may say that is the government enacts this, it will lessen the effectiveness of law enforcement, this is simply not true.
Conclusion- By creating a system that allows law enforcement to be held accountable for incidents of police brutality, there will be a significant decline in incidents and an increase of honorable officers. Give the government a reason to believe that its citizens, all citizens can be protected and served by those who truly want to.

"We're not anti-police, we're anti-police brutality." - Al Sharpton

introduction - Human trafficking is a global problem affecting the lives of millions of people around the world, and robbing them of their dignity but this doesn't stop the fact that this world problem is getting ignored. Houston is the number one city for human trafficking, it involves the use of force, or coercion to obtain some type of labor, or commercial sex act. There should be more laws or advertisement to prevent family members, or friends to be a victim of human slavery.
BP1- They are few organizations to prevent human trafficking, there should be more done to minimize cases of human trafficking, but many communities are indeed pretending it's not happening.
BP2- When it comes to human trafficking age, sex, race, does not matter. A way to no be a victim is being educated about it, and more advertisements.
counter argument-
conclusion- its sad that human trafficking can ruin someones entire family in matter of second, there should be more done to try to minimize cases, for example more news to inform about it, and to spread awareness.
quote-“People who are trafficked are often the most vulnerable in our society.”- Asa don Brown

Intro paragraph- PTSD is a mental illness that a few of us will suffer with in our live. All of us have a least known someone who has PTSD. PTSD has a high rate of suicide and a high rate of causing the family stress even though the treatment is easy to have and will help them in the long run. Post traumatic stress disorder is a very important to treat as soon as it is found because of what it can cause to them and their family.
BP1- PTSD has a high risk of suicide about 27% of people with PTSD have attempt suicide and 24% of military personal had experience suicidal thinking in the past. This is a high rate of people that have ptsd that attempt or thought about suicide. it shows what could happen if untreated.
BP2- Treatment for PTSD is out there. There are many people who have gotten treatment and that it has improve their live and the lives of their family. The treatment is trama-focused so they can move on from the memory. PTSD when treated it will help them in the long run.
Counterargument- Some people are scared to get treatment for PTSD because of revisting the memory of it. But in the end it is better to go though the treatment a few time than having to suffer with it for the rest of your life,
Conclusion- PTSD is something that most of us have seen or suffered with. With most of the rates being high it shows that people still need treatment. If you or someone you know have PTSD get treatment as soon as possible.

“The conflict between the will to deny horrible events and the will to proclaim them aloud is the central dialectic of psychological trauma.”
― Judith Lewis Herman

Animal Cruelty

Intro Paragraph- Unfortunately today animal cruelty is a problem world wide that not a lot of people see. Animals do not deserve to suffer for no reason. Some people think that animal cruelty is when an animal is hit; but no. There is much more that is considered animal cruelty; Five of the most common forms of animal cruelty is, animal hoarding, dog fighting, horse slaughter, the puppy industry, and starvation. I will be talking about dog fighting and animal hoarding. These are one of the most unknown animal cruelty cases. It is sad that animals have to go through this just because humans feel like it; it's not right.
BP 1- Animal hoarding is when a person is keeping an unusual amount of animals and can't provide all the animals with their necessities like, vaccinations, food, shelter, hygiene, space, etc.
BP 2- Dog fighting is when two people bring out their dogs and put them in a ring to fight; they also bet money on their dog and the owner of the winning dog wins the money. These owners mutilate their dog so the opponent dog doesn't have much to grab on; for example, the owners mutilate the ears and the tail shorter. These people that are in dog fighting are most likely trafficking narcotics in their fights.
Counter argument- While animal abuse is a social issue, it should be bigger and be noticed by more people. Some people might be abusing their pets but, they are not realizing it. Animals are like humans; they have feelings. You should treat animals how you would like to be treated.
Conclusion- In conclusion, by placing more stories on animal cruelty, we can raise awareness for this social issue. It is sad that animals are being neglected and used to gain money. What if you were neglected or mutilated, would you like it?
Quote- " Men are the devils of the earth, and the animals are tormented souls."

intro paragraph - Life begins at a conception so unborn babies are human beings with the right to live. If women become pregnant, they should accept the responsibility that comes with it. The killing of a human being is wrong, even if that human being has yet to be born. Yes, women have many rights but killing the life of an innocent person is never right. Many babies feel the pain even though they have not been born.
BP1 - Abortion may lead to future medical problems for the mother, a study published estimated that about 15% of first trimester miscarriage are attributed to a prior history of induced abortion and stated that "induced abortion by vacuum aspiration is associated with an increased risk of the first trimester miscarriage in the subsequent pregnancy"
BP2 - people need to take responsibility of their actions and accept the consequences. the unborn baby should not be punished for something he didn't do but by a mistake made by adults. If women are not prepared to take care of a baby and take the responsibility of what it is being a mom then why didn't they protect themselves when having fun.
COUNTERARGUMENT - the foetus is a person already. First of a foetus is a unique genetic code and with time it would start growing. Since the day the women finds out she's pregnant they know they a have a living thing inside of them.
CONCLUSION- abortion is murder. No baby has to be punished for some night the adults wanted to have fun and did not protect themselves if they knew that maybe that was going to bring consequences.
"When we look to the unborn child, the real issue is not when life begins, but when love begins.'' - Robert Casey

Introduction Paragraph- In big cities, walking around and seeing a homeless person is not uncommon. In fact, there are up to millions of people who are considered impoverished in this country that can not get easy access to food or water everyday. They live hard lives and we ,as a nation, need to change things if we want them to live better.

BP1- A good change that we can make that would reduce poverty is increasing the minimum wage. Doing this would mean that low income neighborhoods/ homeless people can work and make more money to live off of. This would also greatly improve the lives of most people on general so doing this would be great. There aren't a shortage of jobs in this prosperous country so everyone can benefit from this change.

BP2- Another change that can benefit impoverished people is reducing the tax on poor people. Unfortunately this world is unfair, so people living in low income neighborhoods have to pay extra for almost everything. From food and water to property taxes. Banks also don't like serving to low income neighborhoods as well because they know that they will not be able to pay it back so it's hard for them to get money. If we stop the discrimination then there would be a bigger opportunity for them to succeed.

Counter Argument- Some people say that if we increase the minimum wage than there will be more taxes.

Quote: “Poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn't commit.” - Eli Khamarov

Introductory Paragraph- People are becoming poorer, others are losing their jobs, some even lose housing due to not being able to pay rent.
BP1- Raising the minimum wage would help over 40 million Americans financially. would lead to a healthier population and prevent premature deaths.
Counterargument- while the minimum wage gives us more money to support our families, it would cause poverty across the United Sates to increase, taxes would be raised, and costs for any items would also increase. However, if you have a job, you would be able to pay for all of that, and more due to the increased income.
Conclusion- Raising the minimum wage would benefit us Americans more than it would harm us.
"Raising minimum wage doesn't just benefit the workers behind me, it creates a proven ripple effect that increases wages all the way up the scale. ... Let's get the facts straight, only 20 percent of people making the minimum wage are teenagers. The rest are hardworking adults, many of them with families, and I mean hardworking." -- Joe Biden

Family Separations at the Border

Introductory Paragraph:
Many families are being separated at the U.S-Mexico border, and the American government is not seeing the damages caused by these separations. During the past two years, Trump's administration has been focused on the "Zero-Tolerance" policy. This policy focuses on separating children as young as a few months old from their parents and this needs to stop, Even though the government believes that this is the most effective way to take an immigration case this is not true, separated families often suffer from mental disorders even after being reunited and the country's economy also suffer from this.
Body Paragraph 1:
In many cases, the separation of families lead to many mental disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder and attachment disorders. Having these kinds of disorders can lead to the child becoming isolated, having problems communicating, and also low academic achievements.
Body Paragraph 2:
This inhumane policy, aside from causing problems to the migrants, also cause the country's economy to suffer. Many millions of dollars are being used to keep families separated. Just in 2018, 80 million dollars was spent to keep children separated from their parents when this money could be spent in positive ways.
Counterargument:
Even though the government claims that this policy is no longer in effect since June of 2018, this is definitely not true. Just in 2019, statistics show that an estimated 1,100 families were still separated when reaching the US-Mexico border.
Conclusion:
Being taken away from your loved one is something migrant families should not worry about when trying to enter the United States. The Zero-Tolerance policy implemented by president Trump should be completely removed as it only brings the negative consequences of mental disorders and an excessive waste of money.

"Immigration is just not a link to America's past; but also a bridge to America's future"- former president George Bush

Intro Paragraph- Many students have their strengths when it comes to education. Mathematics seems to cause more complicated issues and stress. This combination is categorized as mathematical anxiety. Due to the difficulty in math, the strategical thinking becomes too much of a burden. Along with the frustration, discouragement and thoughts of doubt begin to surface as the work becomes complicated throughout the school year. Mathematical anxiety affects a bigger percentage each year than education officials realize. Acknowledging the obstacles scholar's face would be revolutionary because it means taking another big change in order to improve the way teacher's educate the children.
BP- When student's are thrown packets explaining simple steps of math, it begins to drown them with discouragement and discomfort. Both of these words begin with the prefix, -dis. But that's only to describe a small amount of emotions students feel when faced with mathematical work.
BP: There isn't just one form of anxiety when it comes to education. Enough stress has built up over simple words in a calculation that it is separated from test anxiety. Just because mathematical anxiety doesn't show itself as a great issue compared to depression or other sorts of anxiety, the same amount of recognition and attention is required.
BP 3: An important question that educators must keep in mind, what can be done to avoid the damage? For starters, mathematical anxiety can be capable of ruining a single person's life. This has become a warning flag for the whole country of UK.

“Math anxiety: an intense lifelong fear of two trains approaching each other at speeds of 60 and 80 MPH.”- Rick Bayan

A discussion that has largely been missing is why women seek abortions. Women do not talk about their experience or engage in political discussions in order to maintain privacy, adhere to social norms and shield themselves from stigma. Some of the major reasons why women seek abortions are financial reasons, timing, partner related issues and the need to focus on other children.
BP1-Many women do not plan their pregnancies and are not financially ready to sustain another living creature.
BP2- The timing for a "baby" is not always right
Bp3-

Intro Paragraph- It's quite obvious that there multiple serious problems in the world at the moment. One of them of course being teen pregnancy which is extremely important. Teen pregnancy might seem like one of the least important issues but in reality, it is a very dangerous problem that many people go through pregnancy can be extremely beautiful with giving birth to your own child, but with teen pregnancy in the other hand, it could lead up to multiple problems on the mom or the kid that can be very dangerous.
BP1- Having a baby as a teen could cause many issues that in the long run, is going to hurt you. One of those problems being that it can stop you from graduating from college or high school. This is a very common issue with teen moms that can obviously get you in the wrong path. A worthy example could be my own grandmother. She had a baby as a teen and in the long run, it hurt her and her family. One of the reasons why it hurt them was that she rarely had time to work even less to graduate with a degree to help her family grow and have a stable life. Many teen moms end up dropping out of school for their baby. this is stopping them from reaching their full potential and being able to help their family when they are in need.
BD2-Another problem it can cause is that there is a higher possibility of you taking alcohol and 🤬. In today's modern society, teens take 🤬 and alcohol to either to forget about things or just to do it for they have nothing better to do. By being pregnant as a teen, you may think that your life is going down and that you are a disappointment so you may start to take up 🤬 to forget about those problems and not face them.
Conclusion- Teen pregnancy is a dangerous and serious social issue and should not be taking lightly.

Intro Paragraph - Did you know that if everyone in the world lived the way people do in the U.S., it would take five earths to provide enough resources for everyone. In saying this, the earth has very limited resources, we have started to cross the line on those resources. Global Warming has been noticeably changing our planet, and if we continue this pattern the effects may be irreversible. Stopping Global Warming is key to stopping the effects that are taking place, such as sea level rise and sea ice melting.
BP 1- Global Warming has been leading to an increase in temperature and sea level rise.
BP 2 - Glaciers, ice sheets, and sea ice have started melting. There has been a significant decrease of ice over the last couple of years.
Counterargument - Some people may believe that Global Warming is not a real thing and that it can't affect us, but there have been clear signs of change happening to the earth. All of these changes are in fact due to Global Warming.
Conclusion - Overall Global Warming is an ongoing problem that needs to be stopped.

Intro Paragraph: The United States is often considered as one of the world's richest countries, however millions still live in poverty. 12.3% of Americans live in poverty, and are mostly found is areas of the south and southwest regions of the U.S. Americans find themselves either not qualifying for jobs or having jobs with low income. A way to reduce poverty would be to create more well-paying jobs so that families could be provided a stable income.
BP 1: More jobs will allow for less unemployed people in the U.S. There should be more jobs that do not have a requirement, so that anybody in poverty could work.
BP 2: The minimum wage amount in the U.S should be increased. By having this increase, families would benefit from having a stable income where they can afford clothing, food, and shelter.
Counterargument: Although people might argue that the poverty threshold for a family is enough, it is hard for a person to only live on 12,000 a year and still have to pay for expenses such as housing, food, clothing, gas, etc.
Conclusion: By creating more high paying jobs, families that are at a disadvantage of having a low income will be able to get themselves out of poverty and be able to afford expenses that they usually have trouble dealing with.

"Poverty often deprives a man of all spirit and virtue, it is hard for an empty bag to stand upright." - Benjamin Franklin

It can be agreed upon that the killing of an innocent human being is wrong. Women have practically been given the option to dispose of their own child. Simply because the responsibility of a baby has become a burden to them. Is not having to take on the responsibility of a mother really worth taking the life of an innocent child.
The abortion procedure not only causes pain for the women, but it also hurts the fetus which in other words is the baby. If the fetuses feel pain throughout the abortion process then they are already alive and can already be considered murder. Not only is the baby being disposed of but the mother is also putting herself at risk of many sicknesses and infections by agreeing to the abortion procedure such as, psychological damage, anesthesia complications, incomplete abortion, etc. If women become pregnant they should accept the responsibility that comes with producing a child, people need to take responsibility for their own actions.
The U.S. Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a fundamental right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, that this right of privacy is a woman's decision whether to terminate her pregnancy. Women now abort as a way to dispose of the human being inside, aborting is promoting a culture in which human life can just be thrown away, as if it had little or no value at all. Abortion is justified as means of population control and that it reduces crimes, crime rates have decreased more in states that allowed abortion earlier.
Women have been given the choice to abort, the choice to dispose of their baby, all to live without the burden of raising a child.

"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."
-Theresa of Calcutta

Intro Paragraph: For a long time people have been debating whether abortion should be legal or illegal. This debate has caused many women and couples to think about having an abortion causing a lot of stress toward these people. This decision is mostly based on what other people think, but we have the right to make our own decisions. Abortion is a women's choice based on what they want and what they feel is better for them.

BP1: Nowadays, people have the right to decide what they want to do. If a women wants to have an abortion it should be because they want to have an abortion for certain reasons. Every decision has reasons behind it that makes the person decide what to do.
BP2: Abortion is one of the safest and most common procedures that women's body could go through. Around 1/4 of women tend to have an abortion before the age of 45. Most of these abortions are because they want to focus on children they already have, it's not the right time to have a baby, and if it's an unplanned pregnancy the couple or woman tend to not be ready for a baby.
Counter Argument: Even though many pro-life people, people against abortion, say that it's murder and that it's like taking a child's life away because you did something that you knew you shouldn't be doing and wasn't ready for the consequences, people have the right to decide on what they want based on their reasons and opinions.
Conclusion: Even though abortion still remains a controversial topic, it should be legal and the decision to have one should be based on what you feel and what you want and not on what others think. Abortion can make women feel empowered to control their bodies however they want.

No woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body. - Margaret Sanger

Should Schools require community service to graduate

Introduction: Often times, community service is seen as an act of kindness and goodwill. A way to serve and give back to others and the community. School-wise, some schools give their students the option to do community service both inside the school and outside the school in a community. To push out the act of serving others; the schools would offer rewards to make the service experience something students would want to consider and do. Once a student achieves a certain amount of community service hours they are eligible to receive a prize. But why stop there? Service hours are something everyone can learn and take advantage of. Schools should require service hours to graduate, it will give students the experience school currently doesn't offer them and gives them the sense of happiness, heart warmth, and wholesomeness that teens today often lack, and it works out for everyone involved both those serving and the people or community being served.
BP1- The feeling of being served by others is a unique sensation. The only thing better is being the one serving others. Within most people, there is a strange feeling of joy is being able to take a part in community service regardless of the side taken in this exchange of goodwill
BP2- Community service hours span over a long day. Depending on the person and work, these hours may seem longer than they actually are. As a result; community service is an experience that closely resembles an actual job shift. Required community service gives students the feeling of job experience that they are given the option to do in their free time. By requiring community service, students actually get experience and learn something that they will take from their educations and use every day. Counter Argument- Forcing service hours to graduate isn't just unfair, its also time-consuming; however, students have the weekend and "free time able to dedicate towards completing their schools required community service hours. Conclusion- Service hours are something everyone can benefit from, the experience and outcome helps people and teaches lessons on working in the real world. The emotional attachment as a result is heartwarming and positive. One can’t go wrong with mandatory service to graduate.

Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.
-Dorothy Height

Drug Addiction

Intro Paragraph - Drug addiction has been a very common thing throughout the years. Over time, more and more people become addicted every year, and it needs to be put to a stop. Addiction is a very serious matter and it should be payed more attention to because addiction affects lives and more awareness to addiction can help prevent it from happening.
BP 1 - When somebody becomes addicted to 🤬, they put not only themselves at risk, but the people around them as well. In 2018, famous rapper known as Mac Miller overdosed on 🤬 and suffered a tragic death. This affected many people around him, including his fans. Because of his abuse of 🤬, he died and many of his fans went into a depression.
BP 2 - Many deaths and addicts can be prevented just from getting more awareness. Well known actor Robert Downy Jr. had a time in his life where he would constantly use 🤬 and became addicted. He found it in himself to get help and made a full blown recovery. Stories like this from their role models can inspire others to not do 🤬 or to get help if they already do.
Counterargument - Although many say 🤬 help people deal with pain in their lives, there are so many more alternatives a person could use to cope with difficulties. Hobby's like art or music help people express themselves in any shape or form. These types of hobby's help get a lot off your chest and can make people feel better just by letting pent up emotions out, instead of looking to 🤬 or alcohol to numb their pain.
Conclusion - Addiction can be a very harmful thing and it needs to be payed more attention to. It harms others and more awareness to it can prevent becoming addicted or inspire others to get help.
Quote - "Recovery is hard. Regret is harder." - Brittany Burgunder

Standardized Testing Should It be removed

we
Schools are wasting their time. Standardized testing is preventing students from learning material that is necessary for them to truly succeed in school. Many statistics have shown that these standardized tests don't define the students. These tests should be removed from school for many other reasons but main ones would be that millions of dollars are wasted every year and overall instruction time is lost by teaching for the test.
For starters, the millions of dollars that are lost every year. In 2013, 85 million dollars were spent on testing that year for schools. Schools are wasting money on these tests instead of actually supplying schools with the material that is needed. For example textbooks, new desks and actual repairs for the school are a few things which the money that is being wasted on tests could got to.
Instruction time is being wasted for one test. Statistics have shown that these tests rarely cover new material so they test students on something they already know. However, despite the many evidences that show how standardized testing isn't really necessary most parents approve of it. July, 2013 Public affairs pole found out that 75% of parents approve of testing.
To close, standardized testing should still be removed. schools waste money instead of using it to improve schools and it leaves students behind. These tests don't define students it's their hard work and dedication that pays off. "If my future were determined just by my performance on a standardized test, I wouldn't be here. I guarantee you that." Michelle Obama

Introduction Paragraph- Current president, Donald Trump, told the public that he believes that climate change is a "hoax". Is he correct? According to an article posted on NASA's website, as years pass, earth's average global temperature increases at a rate of 0.15 degrees Celsius per decade. Climate change is a rising issue that needs immediate awareness.
BP1- Forest fires and bush fires has become increasingly worse over the past few decades. As a result of this, Australia suffered a major catastrophe which took the lives of over 1 billion animals, destroying their habitats, destroying over 200,000 homes, and taking the lives of 25 people. The death of the animals and people are a definite effect of climate change.
BP2- As the earth begins to increase in temperature, ice that has lived way longer than a century ago begins to melt. According to a news article on USAToday almost 278 billion tons of ice has been melting per year in Antarctica. Effects on climate change shows that in Antarctica, ice begins to melt, raising sea levels, and destroying habitats for arctic animals.
Counterargument- Opponents of this idea believe that the temperature has not risen and that it has always been like this. However evidence has been proven in multiple countries that things are changing for the worse.
Conclusion- Is climate change still believed as to be a "hoax"? Maybe not, but as people choose to ignore the evidence around them we will soon either burn up in flames or drown in the rising sea levels.
Quote- "And no greater challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change"- Barack Obama

Intro paragraph- Shooting and various guns related violence tend to happens to more than a 100 every year most originate from accidents and h gateful intentions although the use guns have caused a lot of damage to a lot of people . it also help save civilians from bad circumstances in which their life is threaten. Those in favors of gun control might say gun should be terminated completely but the the second amendment protect against that and changing an amendment is like betraying the fore fathers and mothers who fought to create this country. But there is another way to reduce gun violence and keep guns for self defense, in order to halt the violence i believe stricter laws should be made and assault rifles shouldn't be sold.
BP 1 - If laws were made that stopped people diagnosed with being psychopathy at and early age the outcome of shootings would probably decrease. Rhode island saw a decrease in gun violence when a new law was passed to do universal screening.
BP 2- some people love to have guns to feel safe , to hunt for sport. but you could do that with use of an assault rifle. why would you want a gun that travels at 700 meters per second and a has out about 40 rounds per magazine.
Counter Argument- Banning guns might reduce the violence but it doesn't ensure safety for citizens who experience bad circumstance s in which their live is in peril
Conclusion- it disappointing to know that humans have evolved to become very civilized but we still have weak law that doesn't reduce the killing of innocent people.
Quote-I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, for hunting and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of a home. -Ronald Reagan

INTRO- Women should have the choice on what to do with their bodies. Their is a population dilema all over the world and many girls already struggling with their responsibilities and finances. Babies are hard work and abortion needs to be available for victims and girls that cannot at the moment take care of another life.
BP 1- Many couples are struggling mentally, physically and financially and they are way to busy with their own responsibilities for a baby. Would you rather have an abortion or give a miserable life to an innocent full formed baby.
BP 2- All over the world girls are being victimized and if a girl gets pregnant from a traumatic experience she should never be forced to have their child.
CA- However I realize people shouldnt not continously get abortions and abuse the ability to but it needs to be available for the women that truly need it. Abortions could save a girls life.
CONCLUSION- By making abortion legal and available to all, this will allow females to feel more safer and that they have a choice over themselves, a girl knows if she can handle a baby so it is completely up to her whether she should give birth to a new life.

"No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body" - Margret Sanger

intro paragraph - Life begins at a conception so unborn babies are human beings with the right to live.
