I chose these lyrics because the song, Take a Bow, is a message about world leaders who corrupt their people into believing anything they say which destroys their country/nation. The singer says, "pay, you must pay, you must pay for your crimes against the earth." These lyrics, which are emphasized by the repetition of "you must pay", insinuate that "you" (as in world leaders) must suffer for what they do to their people. Because world leaders tend to be the highest in their position, there is nobody that can hold them responsible for their behavior, therefore it is up to them to endure their punishment, i.e penance.
