I would use an engine's lamp to represent us officers during a nighttime railway run. Lockdown was like us boarding the nighttime train. Progress was a little faster, but the harder we'd fall if we did fall. With a lamp, the driver is able to see the speed signs and the railway ahead, and adjust accordingly to avoid accidents.
