Before reading through this controversy I had always thought that " putting a suffering patient to rest " was indeed a good thing, some people may think it's inhumane and try to squeeze themselves as if they were the person's family member.
Nobody really has a say if a patient should be medically assisted in dying, but the patient itself.
Though there are sircumstances in wich the patient doesn't even have the strength or ability to consider, wich is then left upon the family- a family is put in a tough situation, either they keep their family member alive just for the sake of still being in their world but continue to have them suffer with no advancements in their condition or cure. Or they can put their family member to rest and appreciate the moments when they were still mobile and healthy.

I don't think it's right to consider this practice as " suicide " as that is more categorized as an act of grief and depressio in wich a person decides out if their own volintude to take their own life after they have decided that they no longer want to live due to sircumstances in wich they did not receive or want to resolve their problems. ( in my opinion ofc )
