"Pączek" (plural: pączki) is a typical Polish type of donuts. They are made of dough, which is deep-fried. Apart from that, every "pączek" (or donut) is filled either with e.g. confiture or chocolate and is covered with powered sugar, icing, sometimes with bits of dried orange zest (as you see in the picture). It is said that on Fat Thursday (the last Thursday before Lent) about 100 million donuts are eaten by Poles.

This type of an axe can be seen in the south-east of Poland. In the past such axes were used mainly by shepherds (and that's the explanation why they're called "shepherds' axes"), but nowadays they are sold as the souvenirs. The Polish name of this axe is "ciupaga". It is mainly used by Highlanders - people, who live in the southern part of Poland (also known as Gorals, in Polish "Górale") .

You can also recognise a Highlander after their characteristic dialect and after a hat, which is made of felt. A Highlanders' hat is often decorated with a feather of an eagle. In Polish almost everyone cas this hat "a Higlanders' hat", but not everyone knows, that Highlanders call it "klobuk" (in Polish "kłobuk").
