It is composed of 12 stone blocks made from various types of granite. Each stone block features reliefs of the front and back of a female torso.

This mural depicts a quiet moment between a mother and her infant. She holds the child in her arms, feeding it with a spoon – one of those small, daily actions filled with care, presence, and love. The mother looks down at the child with a natural calm, while the child gazes directly at the viewer. The image is a tribute to the close relationships that shape us, often in hidden and unnoticed ways. At Amagerbro Torv – a busy transition between home and work, city and residence – the mural serves as a reminder of where we all come from: that someone cared for us, fed us, held us,

and protected us. It is an image of something shared, inspired by a childhood in Amager.

A robust and somewhat heavy relief in iron and concrete is placed above the door to Heeruptrappen at Kofoeds School. For many years, the relief was called "The Bridge" and thus became part of the narrative about people transitioning from drinking in the courtyard to getting an education and improving their lives.

Over the years, the relief was commonly attributed to Kofoeds School's metal workshop. It wasn't until 2018 that it became clear it was made by the sculptor and painter Morten Nielsen (1920-1998). This was later verified through Weilbach's Artist Encyclopedia, where the artwork is mentioned. The relief is titled: It’s Good to Have a Group. With an Amager perspective, it’s interesting that Morten Nielsen also created the statue at Christmas Møllers Plads in memory of the freedom fighters of Amager – the fallen members of the Resistance Movement. A statue that many residents of Amager pass by daily on their way to the city center.

Text from the book Kofoeds Skole og Kunsten.

The jungle painting that hangs in the shops at Kofoeds School is a magnificent example of Scherfig's work. Viewing the jungle scene is almost like visiting the zoo or being in Africa. The painting depicts a group of elephants gathering by the riverbank. The river is surrounded by jungle-like nature with palm trees and bushes.

The white painted chimney is decorated with 2 vertical stripes, one blue and one red.

The blue stripe faces north and the red stripe faces south.

At street level, the colors of the surroundings influence the experience of the chimney's color scheme, and vice versa. The red house on the corner of Sundholmsvej and the entrance to Sundholmen will be set in the mind in contrast to the blue stripe and parallel to the red stripe.

When you move around the neighborhood, you will experience the chimney from one place as having one color, white. A few steps will reveal a narrow strip of blue. The chimney will then appear white again. Whereupon the red stripe appears.

It will take time to perceive the overall picture of the chimney for those who move around the neighborhood. Although the idea is simple, it is not necessarily quickly caught on. As with three-dimensional sculptures and objects, one must necessarily move around them to see the whole.

Asterisk - Oskar Koliander

The artist Oskar Koliander has created a work for Eftertænksomhedens Oase (the Oasis of Reflection), consisting of three granite sculptures (a tetrahedron, hexahedron, and dodecahedron) and four quotes engraved in granite curbstones.

The granite sculptures are placed within the park, while the curbstones are located at each of the four entrances.

The work draws inspiration from the cemetery’s imagery but is tied to reflection rather than religion. The shapes of the sculptures can be found both in nature and across thousands of years of culture.

The quotes describe a way of relating to the world and invite contemplation. They were chosen based on suggestions submitted by the residents of Amager, with the most fitting ones being selected.

Quote 1: "Kæmp for alt, hvad du har kært" (Fight for everything you hold dear) is from Christian Richardt’s hymn “Altid frejdig, når du går”. It references the graves of the fallen resistance fighters at Sundby Cemetery.

Quote 2: “Skynd dig langsomt" (Make haste slowly) is an old Greek saying popularized by Emperor Augustus. It reminds us not to rush through life but to appreciate the passing of time.

Quote 3: “Mest af alt holder jeg af hverdagen" (Most of all, I love the everyday) by Dan Turèll highlights that life is about more than its high points. The slow pace, the changing seasons, and life’s rhythms also deserve celebration.

Quote 4: "Intet i livet skal frygtes, det skal blot forstås" (Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood) by scientist Marie Curie encourages us to face challenges with curiosity and openness.

The quotes are embedded in the pavement at the entrances, like welcome mats inviting visitors in. The lettering uses a typeface commonly seen on gravestones.

The sculptures are the same size and material as gravestones. In the Oasis of Reflection, they stand as pure forms, without inscriptions tied to any specific person, time, or religion.

The work has been supported by the Amager Øst Local Committee, Sundby Urban Renewal, and the City Beautification Project.

The artist's own statement about the work

“Drengen med de snoede ben” is my fourth mural on Amager. All these murals have been made possible by a great deal of engagement by local communities. This is something I enjoy about Amager. Locals here are committed to create a better environment for everyone. During the process of raising funding for this mural, one initiative was to set up a popcorn stand on the street in order to collect donations for the painting. Another initiative was to create a “Welin-walk”. A map in which you can find all my paintings in Amager. Murals is art for everyone, and that’s what makes it meaningful.

Oktober - Rasmus Eckhardt

The Danish artist Rasmus Eckhardt (b. 1982) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He creates works that merge reality with dreamlike elements, exploring a poetic tension between the tangible and the imagined. His practice conveys a sense of existing between two worlds, often portraying figures in motion, rendered with fragile expressions and delicate brushstrokes. The creative process begins with chalk or brush on a wooden panel, followed by a gradual layering of colors and motifs. Eckhardt invites viewers into a world of fragmented realities, where figures may lack facial features and perspectives dissolve into the background, blurring the boundaries between presence and absence, memory and perception.

The mural has been Curated by Jens-Peter Brask.
