"Atticus says cheatin' a colored man is ten times worse than cheatin' a white man" (Lee 269).

This quote is important because it shows that not everyone is equal. Cheatin' a black man is worse, everyone already has no respect for them, this piles on. White men are so privileged, yet black people aren't, not quite fair.

This chapter is significant because it's the end of the trial and we're soon going to find out the verdict. Atticus has pointed out there is no medical evidence proving Tom is guilty, it seems Bob is guilty instead. Atticus has made it clear that Tom is innocent in this chapter, Jem thinks the jury will agree with Atticus. However, the jury will most likely take Mayella's side because of race issues.

"This case is as simple as black and white" (Lee 272).

This quote has two meanings behind it, one would mean its simple. Another would mean the case is literally between white and black people. White people are against colored people, but its up to the white people to decide the fate of a colored man.
