CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER!

ONBOARDING WEEK 1 :

Monday 8/25/2025 I joined an onboarding meeting that consisted of myself and 2 other interns.

I met my supervisor Colleen, and she was great!

Trying to understand my role and how to operate as directed.

Everyone on the team is very nice and welcoming.

My role will be to fundraise for DMAX which is a non-for-profit group that aims at raising awareness of the mental health struggles of our youth. Additionally, they provide outlets to those who are seeking mental health advise and help.

I am thrilled to have joined this organization!

First Work Day of The New Semester

First week of the semester

This week I did a lot of mail and checking insurance policy forms for the agents. I also got assigned to put together donation baskets for a local church. We donated over $300 dollars worth of baskets! My desk is at the very front of the office, so I greet every customer that comes in. I like to keep my desk a bit decorated! In the picture, you can see I am doing some reconciling for July.

This Padlet is about all of you, and my favorite posts are selfies of you in your internship settings. However, I am making an appearance because it connects to our time together in the course. In this week's discussion, discussion one, on pleasant starting surprises, I shared a story in the prompt about the Old Bank House, a small inn where I worked in the early 90s. This summer, I was visiting family in Ontario and passed by it on my morning run. I snapped a selfie to share that it is still in business and a place I remember fondly because of that pleasant welcome and show of leadership I had as a new employee.

I wanted to show off the show room. In my opinion it is amazing. The other side is all retail chemicals and a lounge area with coffee and a couch to take customers when closing sales. During this week I have been answering calls and learning more about the business itself. I got an overview of everything we sell. We have been selling closing chemical kits like crazy. It is currently pool closing season. I was informed it is about to be spa season next for fall. I’m excited to see what I can sell!

This is a picture in my office over this summer for my birthday! My mom and I work at the same company and she surprised me for my 22nd birthday. During the summer, I worked for the legal team at Keystone Collections Group. Now with my new internship, I am working with Delinquent Real Estate as a direct hire. My first week as a part of DRE went well. I have completely switched to a different department of tax collection so I am learning a lot of new things. My coworkers are very good at what they do and I am excited to learn from them over the course of this semester. I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend and I am looking forward to reading your posts!

Got some merch from the company so why not wear while working remotely!? I am getting into the grove this week. DMAX is having a walk (DMAX Day of Connection) across 10 campuses on 10/4 to promote mental health discussions and awareness. I have been working on getting sponsorships and outreaching to campus' in Northeastern PA to get on board. Although I am not local to any of the campus's holding events, I will be tabling at a local event in hopes to reach young adults and help get the DMAX name out there! Hope everyone is else is also finding their place in their internships!

Multitasking: Excel Sheets & Hair Rollers

Starting my day with coffee, my internship tasks, and a brand-new Excel spreadsheet. One of the best parts of working remotely is being able to set up a workspace that feels comfortable and motivating. I’ve learned so much about staying organized and focused from home. And yes, the hair rollers are proof that multitasking is real, I can crunch numbers and get ready at the same time!

My supervisor is in charge of marketing events on campus and alumni events. This week I have been researching Clarion's class of 1975 to create a "Then and Now" talking point for each table at the 50 year reunion!

This week there was a couple big paper orders. Paper orders are harder to enter because lots of our paper is sourced from across seas to our providers, therefore recently the tariffs have been an additional charge. This extra charge needs to be allocated correctly by the way the receiving department received it into inventory. The charge is allocated per MSI, which is width and length of footage received. Between tariffs, freight charges, fuel charges, cut charges, and an extra "surcharge" of whatever they feel. Some orders have extra fees of almost the cost of the product!

This week I was trained on how to do Deed Transfers in our system. I got to leave early on Friday because I had finished my tasks for the week. This week we have been working through all of our leads. I the opportunity to make a lead tracker. I went through google sheets. I separated it by the customers name, phone number, email, date inquired, what model/brand, points of contact, who contacted and noted. We then used a highlighting method to know if the customer was interested or not. I got a lot more confident on phone calls this week.

I then created a JE to reclass to the obsolete FG account. I never would have thought of a label business having to destroy their inventory due to age.

This week, I completed scanning the third box of documents into our system and have now started working on the fourth. I also had the opportunity to shred the contents of the third box in our secure shredding bin. It was rewarding to see the full cycle, from scanning and digitizing to final disposal, come together. This experience gave me a better understanding of our document management process and its importance in maintaining data security.

I gathered loss runs from all of the carriers that this customer is insured with and put them in an Excel spreadsheet for her. Behind my monitor you can see some flowers my boss got for me!

This past Saturday I attended a local event to talk mental health on behalf of DMAX Foundation. We got a few signups for our mailing list, and a lot of positive conversations were had! Additionally, I had to create a spreadsheet on Excel (not my favorite but I got through it) to transfer all the sign up information and send it over to my supervisors!

This week was another routine one at my internship. I focused on data entry tasks and completed scanning the fourth box of documents into our system. I also shredded the contents of that box, completing the full cycle of document processing. With my supervisor out for the first half of the week, I stayed on track by continuing with regular responsibilities and maintaining steady progress.

I got the chance to add in all of our new spa customers for this year, and the list is all ready to go! We will start contacting everyone next week using email, texting, and call.

I have been emailing hundreds of faculty members on college campuses across PA to see if their schools would be interested. Students! If you want to start a club reach out to me! This has been a busy week. We are running two deals right now. One on our spa chemicals and one our a brand of our spas. I have been using Canva quite a bit this week. I wanted to show off some of the signage I made. I made the two rebate signs and the $500 off. I thought they came out well.

Continuing with Mental Health Awareness month we at DMAX continue to provide resources for college students so that you do not struggle with the hardships that go along with college and the thought of feeling alone. It can be difficult trying to make it all work. I have been working diligently this week on reaching out on TikTok to talk to struggling college students and influencers. We are gearing up for our "Giving Tuesday" launch. My team is getting ready to apply our marketing skills to get donations for the end of the year for the organization, so that we can help those who need help!

I wanted to show our wall of chemicals. With that said, we got updated pricing for the chemicals. I used the website Avery to make all new price tags. I printed them on card-stock and laminated them. Followed by individually cutting out each one. I felt accomplished when I got put the last one up!

Today marks my final week at Shoe sensation as their assistant store manager. On Friday, I’ll be starting my new position at Harbor Freight as their logistics supervisor. Reflecting on my time here, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge, from the meticulous presentation of stock to the independent management of a store. While I’m tempted to stay, I’m driven by a desire to progress and leverage the skills I’ve acquired from my degree for greater success.

Today, I bid farewell to Shoe sensation, as tomorrow morning marks the beginning of my new role as Harbor Freight’s logistics supervisor. I’ll genuinely miss this place, from witnessing the launch of new products to interacting with incredible people. During my last shift, we received six boxes filled with new Nike and Heydude shoes. These shoes require ink tagging, so that’s what I’ve been diligently doing for my final shift, along with meticulously following the planograms for these new arrivals.

I am at the end... my hours will be done this weekend, and I will say it has been a ride! I sent back all of my DMAX supplies and attended my last intern meeting. The things I have learned this semester were probably the most valuable during this journey. I am so excited to work, but more importantly, I am SO ready! I can see the difference in all these interns from the beginning of our internships to the end. My LinkedIn is ready; my resume is ready and so am I.

This week I filmed my video for a campaign DMAX will run in May for mental health. It was my intern "parting gift" I guess you can say. Above is a screenshot of that raw video, you can see the exhaustion from the semester all over my face lol. Also, did fundraising emails and social media shares for the current campaign heading into the new year. Tomorrow we all meet for our goodbyes and then into the work world we all go! To say I am excited is an understatement!
