I think the song is necessary for the society because it empowers women to participate more in the shaping of it. I don't really think that the song is anti-men because there were no lyrics insulting men and the message is all about the empowerment of women. The praise of one sex should not be interpreted as disrespect or indignity for the other one.
All in all, the message is for women not to be afraid to step up for themselves.

Mihkel Annus

I wouldn't say it's anti-men but it emphasises the importance of women in society. It says that women can be independent and do whatever they like, even if for example some positions (doctors etc.) are not favoured by men.

The message is that women ought to show initiative and that they are actually already doing it. I don‘t think it was anti-men rather than just pro-women as it encourages women to take matters into their own hands and not relay too much on men.

It's also written in a positive way.
It is definitely not anti-men, as it says in the song, that relationships between the two genders shouldn't change. What should be changed, is seeing the women as a weaker sex. The song also wants break stereotypes regarding females. We should not stay in the kitchen and we are capable of doing the exact same things as men!

The song ''Sisters Are Doin' It Themselves'' is far too often misinterpreted. To my mind the function of the tune is simply to empower women of all walks of life and to break stereotypes regarding women, not to belittle and degrade men. It is explicitly sung that ''Behind every great man; there had to be a great woman'', which has quite often been the case throughout history, my favourite example being the prominent American President Franklin D. Roosevelt who always listened and took heed of her wife's, Eleanor's, advice. The song is purely a celebration of women.

The song “Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves” isn't one of my personal favourites, but I like the message it portrays. In my view, it isn't anti-men; instead of putting women on a pedestal and belittling men, the song showcases the independence and capabilities of women, encouraging them to “do it for themselves”. At the end of the song, it is also said that men and women still love each other all the same. In other words, both genders should and can have the same opportunities, e.g., career-wise, without their relationship being affected negatively.

The song encourages women to stand up for themselves and do what they want because they can. A woman should not stay in kitchen and only be seen as someone who serves her husband. Also the song isn't anti-men for there is said that there is still love between a man and a woman as it always has been and this shouldn't change if a woman is doing something for herself. More important is equality, doing what you desire and love between two people. Hanna

The song “Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves” isn't my favourite, when it comes to Band Eurythmics. Although, i personally think, that this song has a powerful meaning behind the words and encourages women to take more action. For example the line: "We got doctors, lawyers, politicians too" expresses, that there's no such job that women can't do. I do not think, that the song is anti-men, but it definitely says, that men shouldn't leave women behind. Everyone has the right to self-actualization regardless of his/her gender.

From my point of view, the song is about women, who should definitely have the same rights and choices about their education and life as men have. The song itself encourages the woman to speak up and fight for themselves. Although the song is quite feminist, it's not anti-men. Maybe some may still get the feels, cause it's unusual, specifically during the time the song was released, that women would make such kind of statements. However, to my mind, it should be only seen positively and everyone should accept the fact, that both genders have the same equality.

The song itself brings out that women had also a big part in our history as well. Brings out the fact that men and women are both equal. It doesn't mean that the song is anti-men. I found the sound of the song quite interesting to listen to. And the combination of lyrics and sound made it more fascinating.
