My name is Alan. I am Salvadoran and Puerto Rican and I am originally from Los Angeles. I have two younger brothers as well. When I turned 8 my father joined the military. In turn this made traveling possible. I have traveled around the world on various occasions throughout grade school. Ive been to many places in the US and Europe, these places consist of New York, Florida, Puerto Rico, Italy, Spain, Croatia, and even the United Kingdom. There are a lot more countries I have traveled to but that’s just to name a few. I am currently in an almost 3 year relationship with my High School sweetheart. We have traveled around Europe together at a very young age and we will never take that for granted. Her father is also in the military and that is how we met at the same high school in Italy. Luckily, she moved to San Diego to live with her grandparents after we graduated in order to pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner. She is currently attending a local community college to then transfer to San Diego State. Last week we just returned from our summer vacation in Hawaii. I moved away from my parents home to pursue a career with the LAPD. I am now currently living with my grandparents in Mid-City LA. As a kid my dream has always been to become a police officer for the City of Los Angeles. I am majoring in Administration of Justice to increase my opportunity to join the academy. To my understanding, a global citizen is someone who is aware of the problems society is facing. An example would be someone who helps in keeping the world a cleaner place such as assisting with community service. Community service can be as simple as picking up trash from your local community.
