They want more people to benefit from products that are made with no preservatives and clean ingredients. So instead of binning them, they divert them to a better cause, nourishing those who are most in need of them.

The amount rescued as of 14 April is 10,911kg, which means 11 tonnes of food have been diverted to better use. Most of them are for human consumption, and a smaller proportion is for other usages such as feeds for rescued animals or making eco enzymes and composting.

As most of their products contain no preservatives, they put aside these day-old or short-dated items daily for the rescuers from D2L to collect them. The usual items are bread baked on the morning of the sale day, surplus fresh produce, short-dated pantry items, and other off-season or off-the-shelves products. They emphasise and train the retail and F&B team not to dispose of any food products. The team will put aside the items that they intend to clear for the day, and D2L rescuers will come by to collect them daily. It has been a good partnership with D2L as the rescuers will take care of sorting and processing the item.
