Occupation and ideology according to Marcia are what make up a person's identity. The first stage is identity diffusion ,which occurs when one does that know who they are and not being proactive about trying to figure out their identity. The second stage is foreclosure, where one does not investigate the beliefs/ideas they have already. The third stage is moratorium, where people are exploring while also experiencing a crisis. I am going into early adulthood and I am still trying to figure out what ideas and interests suit me. I question my own beliefs as well as what other people tell me is the "correct belief." I have not committed to one ideology or occupation in life and I am still exploring the world as I know it.
