This research poster is designed taking into account that nowadays, virtual education has become a key tool for language teaching, offering flexibility and reach to students of diverse ages and contexts. However, this modality also faces significant challenges. Based on the different observations made in the classes of the INVIL community, a social problem has been identified that, more than a simple problem, is presented as a challenge: the lack of innovative didactic strategies that seek to promote the participation of collaborative work in virtual English language learning environments. This challenge has not only been observed in these recordings, but also in multiple virtual encounters, suggesting that it is a recurring pattern in online language teaching. The lack of activities designed to encourage discussions, role-plays, or group projects highlights the need to incorporate more innovative and collaborative learning-centered methodologies.

The activity called “An Adventure through the World of Reading” is an exercise that is designed to motivate students to improve their reading comprehension in English through the use of two widely recognized gamification tools: Kahoot and Quizlet. The activity focuses on two initial vocabulary and preparation exercises, followed by specific tasks to develop reading comprehension. The structure of the activity follows metacognitive strategies, starting with a pre-reading phase where preparation and contextualization of the text is done by introducing key vocabulary. Subsequently, in the guided reading phase, the selected texts are presented and guided activities are developed to explore and understand the content. Finally, in the post-reading phase, learning is consolidated through analysis and reflection on the texts read. This approach seeks not only to strengthen reading comprehension, but also to show students how artificial intelligence tools can be intelligently and creatively integrated into their learning process.
